Abstract
Aim
The
symbioses
between
corals
and
endosymbiotic
dinoflagellates
have
been
described
as
a
flexible
relationship
whose
dynamics
could
serve
source
of
resilience
for
coral
reef
ecosystems.
However,
the
factors
that
drive
establishment
maintenance
this
co‐evolutionary
remain
unclear.
We
examined
environmental
geographical
structuring
dinoflagellate
communities
in
wide‐ranging
Indo‐Pacific
to
begin
address
gap.

Abstract
Aim
Efficiently
protecting
species
requires
knowing
their
ecological,
life‐history
and
reproductive
traits.
This
is
particularly
decisive
for
scleractinian
corals,
key
components
of
coral
reefs,
which
are
experiencing
critical
declines.
Yet
connectivity
remains
insufficiently
documented.
Here,
we
focused
on
four
distinct
the
genus
Pocillopora
found
in
diverse
habitats
southwestern
Indian
Ocean
presenting
various
strategies.
We
aimed
to
understand
whether
these
traits
affect
connectivity.
Location

capture

single‐nucleotide
polymorphisms
(SNPs)
from
over
a
thousand
colonies
sampled
across
nine
localities.

SNPs

All
exhibited
almost
same
structuring
pattern,

ecoregions

habitats,

as
lagoons
shallow
waters,
reproducing

asexually.

glacial

Main
Conclusions
These
results
indicate
reduced
gene
flow
between
Madagascar
Islands,
probably
linked
currents,
suggesting
that
should
be
considered
independently
when
setting
up
conservation
plans.
In
addition,
shared
histories
reflect
populations
have
met
environmental
constraints
reacted
similarly,
something
light
ongoing
rapid
climate
change.

Abstract
Coral
reefs
are
of
paramount
importance
in
marine
ecosystems,
where
they
provide
support
for
a
large
part
the
biodiversity.
Being
quite
sensitive
to
global
changes,
therefore
prime
targets
biodiversity
conservation
policies.
However,
such
goals
require
accurate
species
identification,
which
notoriously
difficult
get
these
highly
morphologically
variable
organisms,
rich
cryptic
species.
There
is
an
acute
need
easy-to-use
and
resolutive
diagnostic
molecular
markers.
The
present
study
builds
on
huge
sequencing
effort
developed
during
TARA
Pacific
expedition
develop
genotyping
strategy
assign
coral
samples
correct
within
two
genera
(
Porites
Pocillopora
).
For
this
purpose,
we
technique
that
called
“Divergent
Fragment”
based
less
than
2kb
long
genomic
fragment
determined
from
metagenomic
data
subset
corals
collected.
