Rock-inhabiting fungi (RIF) are usually extremely tolerant or extremophilic, as they can survive on natural and artificial rocks despite being exposed to stressful conditions. RIF have serious negative effects the appearance cohesion of rocky substrates, causing alteration decomposition building materials, but also human animal health, act opportunistic pathogens. Their identification is therefore great importance, especially in urban areas. In present study, culturing techniques for isolating fungi, a polyphasic taxonomic approach their identification, were used assess diversity micromycetes that darken surfaces buildings various villages cities Tarragona Province (Spain). Sixty-four species belonging forty-one genera identified, including new genus (Coccodomyces) following six fungal species: Coccodomyces pleiosporus, Exophiala caementiphila, multiformis, Neocatenulostroma spinulosum, Neodevriesia longicatenispora, Paradevriesia holothallica. Thus, we established materials ecological niches where high biodiversity develop.

Abstract This article revises the documented diversity of known marine fungi from nine phyla, 33 classes, 107 orders, 273 families, 767 genera and 1898 species reported worldwide. A member Aphelidiomycota, Pseudaphelidium drebesii , is for first time environment, on a diatom. Likewise, phylum Mortierellomycota listed following taxonomic changes, as are six subclasses: Chaetothyriomycetidae, Savoryellomycetidae, Sclerococcomycetidae, Agaricostilbomycetidae, Auriculariomycetidae Aphelidiomycotina. Thirty-three orders 105 family names with added to checklist, along 641 in 228 genera, bringing total 1898. New additions list highlighted. Four new combinations proposed: Stigmatodiscus mangrovei Diaporthe krabiensis xylocarpi while hyphomycete Humicola alopallonella referred genus Halosphaeriopsis alopallonella.

Abstract Hypocreomycetidae is a highly diverse group with species from various habitats. This subclass has been reported as pathogenic, endophytic, parasitic, saprobic, fungicolous, lichenicolous, algicolous, coprophilous and insect fungi aquatic terrestrial In this study, we focused on freshwater of which resulted 41 fresh collections China Thailand. Based morphological phylogenetic analyses, identified 26 that belong to two orders ( Hypocreales Microascales ) six families Bionectriaceae , Halosphaeriaceae Microascaceae Nectriaceae Sarocladiaceae Stachybotryaceae ). Ten new are introduced 13 habitats geographic records reported. Mariannaea superimposita, Stachybotrys chartarum S. chlorohalonatus recollected in China. analysis combined LSU, ITS, SSU, rpb 2 tef 1-α sequences data, Emericellopsis transferred genera incertae sedis ; Pseudoacremonium Sedecimiella placed Nautosphaeria Tubakiella excluded Faurelina . Varicosporella under Atractium synonym addition, divergence time estimates showed Ascocodina Campylospora Cornuvesica Xenodactylariaceae form distinct lineages they evolved the family/order frame. Hence, order Xenodactylariales three Ascocodinaceae Campylosporaceae Cornuvesicaceae based analysis, estimations characters. Ancestral character state performed for different including freshwater, marine taxa. The result indicates independently ancestors. results further support those early diverging clades subclass, mostly comprising taxa have secondarily derived, while crown clade represented all evolution adaptations towards their habitual changes also discussed.

Abstract Background Filamentous fungi are prolific producers of bioactive molecules and enzymes with important applications in industry. Yet, the vast majority fungal species remain undiscovered or uncharacterized. Here we focus our attention to a wild isolate that identified as Anthostomella pinea . The fungus belongs complex polyphyletic genus family Xylariaceae , which is known comprise endophytic pathogenic produce plethora interesting secondary metabolites. Despite that, largely understudied only two have been fully sequenced characterized at genomic level. Results In this work, used long-read sequencing obtain complete 53.7 Mb genome sequence including full mitochondrial DNA. We performed extensive structural functional annotation coding sequences, genes encoding potential biotechnology. Among others, found A. encodes 91 biosynthetic gene clusters, more than 600 CAZymes, 164 P450s. Furthermore, untargeted metabolomics molecular networking analysis cultivation extracts revealed rich metabolism, particular an abundance sesquiterpenoids sesquiterpene lactones. also polyketide antibiotic xanthoepocin, attribute anti–Gram-positive effect observed antibacterial plate assays. Conclusions Taken together, results provide first glimpse into Anthstomella new biocatalysts will facilitate future research these valuable

Filamentous fungi are an important source of natural products. The mold Penicillium roqueforti, which is well-known for being responsible the characteristic texture, blue-green spots, and aroma so-called blue-veined cheeses (French Bleu, Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Stilton, Cabrales, Valdeón, among others), able to synthesize different secondary metabolites, including andrastins mycophenolic acid, as well several mycotoxins, such Roquefortines C D, PR-toxin eremofortins, Isofumigaclavines A B, festuclavine, Annullatins D F. This review provides a detailed description biosynthetic gene clusters pathways main metabolites produced by P. overview regulatory mechanisms controlling metabolism in this filamentous fungus.

Plant pathogenic fungi and fungus-like taxa (oomycetes) form part of the ecological makeup healthy natural forest ecosystems. Some help to eliminate unhealthy trees, while others are essential for conservation plant species diversity, particularly soil-borne pathogens. However, many fungal pathogens also have devastating effects on ecosystems.Disease impacts more profound when newly emerge these can even wipe out an entire tree population. These organisms developed a plethora strategies colonize infect plants there several factors causing emerge. Therefore, prevent emerging diseases, thorough understanding them is necessary. It important comprehensive mechanisms disease development propagation design effective control measures. In this review, we describe phenomenon reemerging by exemplifying ten recently emerged taxa, namely, Ophiostoma novo-ulmi, Ceratocystis fimbriata, Fusarium circinatum, Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, Phyllosticta citricarpa, Neonectria faginata, Sphaerulina musiva, Phytophthora pluvialis, P. agathidicida, Melampsora × columbiana. They been listed in order most cited least based data obtained from Web Science. We provide review each document its emergence negative impact host(s).We revise their taxonomic placement, host country details, updated phylogenetic trees genus. The number accepted molecular provided.
