Rubia cordifolia Linn is one of medicinal plants traditionally used for the treatment various diseases and ailments by different people around world. This study involves successively extraction dried powdered root bark R. cordifolia, evaluating anti-bacterial activities, screening phytochemicals, isolating characterizing chemical constituents from crude with best antibacterial activity. Freshly collected was washed then under shade at room temperature grounded. The (175g) extracted (2.4L) chloroform/methanol(1:1) (1.2L) methanol solution filtered using Whatman filter paper concentrated rotary evaporator about 400C. chloroform/methanol (1:1) extract yields were 9.5% 3.6%, respectively. disc diffusion method to evaluate activity extracts.
