Menopause is an important milestone in the women's life continuum and associated with potentially adverse effects, including those related to oral health. This study assessed self-reported periodontal disease relation menopausal status. A cross-sectional involving a convenience sample of female university dental hospital attendees was conducted using validated, self-administered, questionnaire. two-step cluster analysis used categorize participants based on menstrual period (MP) continuity, systemic diseases age. Background: Dry mouth, or xerostomia, is a common complaint among older people. mouth can result in variety of dental complications, oral discomfort, difficulty swallowing and eating, decreased taste sensation, all which adversely affect quality life. Objective: To provide an overview the definition, diagnosis, causes, potential treatment strategies for dry mouth. Data Sources: PubMed, Proquest, Cochrane Library, drug prescribing information, information databases, manufacturers' websites were used. Search terms "xerostomia," "dry mouth," "hyposalivation," "causes," "treatment," "pharmacology." The resources identified included clinical practice guidelines, review articles, original research articles. Synthesis: literature described causes managing including concerns adults, pharmacists' involvement providing care. Discussion: most cause general population adults medication use. Individual medications may primarily through anticholinergic side effects. Polypharmacy also cause. Other are dehydration, alcohol caffeine intake, systemic diseases such as Sjögren's disease. Oral health in care-dependent older adults is often compromised due to care dependency associated with deteriorating general health. This cross-sectional study assessed the oral of 458 nursing home residents Flanders, a mean age 82.7 years (70.3% female), using optimised Health Section interRAI Suite Instruments and validated dental indices. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive decline and neuronal loss, affecting millions worldwide. Emerging evidence highlights the oral microbiome—a complex ecosystem of bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa as significant factor in health. Dysbiosis microbiome contributes to systemic inflammation, disrupts blood–brain barrier, promotes neuroinflammation, processes increasingly implicated pathogenesis AD. This review examines mechanisms linking dysbiosis through oral–brain oral–gut–brain axis. These interconnected pathways enable bidirectional communication between cavity, gut, brain via neural, immune, endocrine signaling. Oral pathogens, such Porphyromonas gingivalis, along with virulence factors, including lipopolysaccharides (LPS) gingipains, contribute while metabolic byproducts, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) peptidoglycans, further exacerbate immune activation. Objective: To map self-reported oral health status, health-related quality of life (OHRQoL), and associated factors among older adults receiving home care services (HCS) in south-eastern Norway. Material methods: For this cross-sectional study, adult users HCS, aged ≥ 65 years were interviewed using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Information about demographics, number medicines, Activity Daily Living (ADL-score) was obtained. Self-reported status subjective dry mouth (Summated Xerostomia Inventory-Duch version, SXI-D) assessed. OHRQoL measured Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14). Background Limited attention has been given to oral health challenges faced by older Indigenous populations, especially in rural settings, where disparities exist. This study aims assess a Mapuche community southern Chile, utilizing geriatric technology support, and exploring the connection between well-being fill gap this context.
