“I Saw it Incidentally but Frequently”: Exploring the Effects of Online Health Information Scanning on Lung Cancer Screening Behaviors Among Chinese Smokers

In
China,
lung
cancer
is
the
most
common
with
high
mortality.
While
prior
research
suggests
that
health
information
scanning
influences
screening
within
general
population,
a
deeper
exploration
of
underlying
mechanisms
imperative.
This
study
specifically
targets
smokers,
aiming
to
investigate
whether
online
can
effectively
encourage
and
elucidate
driving
this
association.
Data
were
extracted
from
Chinese
national
survey
conducted
between
January
September
2023,
exclusively
involving
current
smokers
(N

992).
A
moderated
mediation
model
was
employed
examine
cognitive-affective
sequential
chain
through
risk
perceptions
worry.
Results
showed
99.1%
reported
scanning,
which
possessed
significant
influence.

Abstract
Background
The
popularity
of
e-cigarettes
is
on
the
rise
among
current
cigarette
users.
Therefore,
there
are
concerns
about
their
health
implications.
This
study
examined
impact
health-related
social
media
use
e-cigarette
