In saline-alkaline water, carbonate alkalinity (CA) stands as the predominant detrimental environmental element impacting aquatic fauna. As a multifunctional organ, gill plays key role in regulation of energy metabolism shrimp. this study, low-salinity cultured Litopenaeus vannamei was exposed to CA stress for period 7 days, and then relieved recovered days. The study examined alterations following exposure subsequent recovery, analyzing these changes through different biological functional aspects. results demonstrated that led histomorphology disrupted balance metabolism-related parameters. detail, after stress, carbohydrate related indexes, pyruvate (PYR) content showed increases, did relative expression hk , pk pdh genes, while glucose (GLU) lactate (LAC) idh gene were slightly decreased; lipid such triglycerides (TG) ampk increased, expressions srebp acc fas genes increased significantly; tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle cs odh sdh up-regulated, whereas mdh significantly down-regulated, fh decreased regulation; electron transfer chain ndh cytc coi cco atph increased. Collectively, jointly affected homeostasis. After relieved, certain physiological parameters improvement, they not completely revert levels seen control group. findings indicated exerted an adverse effect on gills shrimp, likely by disrupting functions glycolysis, metabolism, TCA cycle, transport chain, which may further affect growth survival
