BACKGROUND It is common for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection to occur in the gastrointestinal tract, which can present itself as an initial symptom. The severity of disease 2019 (COVID-19) often reflected prevalence symptoms. COVID-19 damage nerve supply digestive system, leading autonomic dysfunction. There still much learn about how affects nervous system and tract. AIM To thoroughly explore epidemiology clinical aspects COVID-19-induced dysfunction, including its manifestations, potential mechanisms, diagnosis, differential impact on quality life, prognosis, management prevention strategies. METHODS We conducted a thorough systematic search across various databases performed extensive literature review. Our review encompassed 113 studies published English from January 2000 April 18, 2023. RESULTS According most literature, dysfunction seriously affect patient's life ultimate prognosis. Numerous factors influence functions. Studies have shown that SARS-CoV-2 has well-documented affinity both neural tissues, virus produce symptoms by reaching tissues through different pathways. These include anorexia, dysgeusia, heartburn, belching, chest pain, regurgitation, vomiting, epigastric burn, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, irregular bowel movements, constipation. Diarrhea prevalent symptom, followed nausea, pain. Although vaccination may rarely induce symptoms, effects significantly condition, general health, life. Early diagnosis proper recognition are crucial improving outcomes. important consider these be induced diseases other than Treating this challenging task. CONCLUSION ensure best possible outcomes patients, it essential take multidisciplinary approach involving providing supportive care, treating underlying infection, managing monitoring complications, offering nutritional support. Close condition crucial, prompt intervention should taken if necessary. Furthermore, conducting research caused vital manage effectively.

Fatigue is prevalent amongst people with long COVID, but poorly understood. The sensory attenuation framework proposes that impairments in processing lead to heightened perception of effort, driving fatigue. This study aims investigate the role somatosensory COVID fatigue and quantify how relates other prominent symptoms including autonomic dysfunction, mood illness beliefs experience We will recruit 44 individuals neither nor (controls). Our primary objective compare baseline between controls. Additionally, we explore associations processing, fatigability level induced by cognitive physical exertion. Due complex nature fatigue, also state perceived mood, beliefs, nervous system function interact predict trait comprehensive investigation elucidate impact

Purpose: Growing evidence suggests long COVID in some can result nervous system dysfunction, which translates to difficulty completing daily activities. Physical therapists play an important role regulating the autonomic through use of manual techniques that decrease sympathetic tone. The purpose this case report was outline physical therapy management a person with and associated dysfunction. This discusses patient who is 70-year-old man referred for fatigue shortness breath related physician-diagnosed COVID. Methods: following were applied at each treatment session address rib cage dysfunctions, muscle hypertonicity, tone improved breathing: suboccipital release, cervical paraspinal raising. Concurrently, instructed prescribed diaphragmatic breathing home exercise program. Results: After 11 visits over 20 weeks, demonstrated functional improvement symptoms. Conclusions: Manual techniques, combination other interventions, may be first-line, less invasive means addressing downstream effects dysfunction on living.

Introduction Cognitive impairment is experienced by people with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC). Patients report difficulty remembering, concentrating, making decisions. Our objective was to determine whether orthostatic hemodynamic changes were causally linked cognitive in these diseases. Methods This prospective, observational cohort study enrolled PASC, ME/CFS, healthy controls. All participants underwent clinical evaluation assessment that included brief testing before after an challenge. measured efficiency which defined as the speed accuracy subject’s total correct responses per minute. General linear mixed models used analyze hemodynamics during Additionally, mediation analysis if instability induced challenge mediated relationship between disease status impairment. Results Of 276 enrolled, 256 this (34 71 < 4 year duration 69 > 10 ME/CFS duration, 82 controls). Compared controls, cohorts had significantly lower scores immediately following remained low for >10 2 7 days Narrow pulse pressure less than 25% systolic occurred at 5 min into PASC cohorts, respectively. Abnormally narrow associated slowed information processing patients compared controls (−1.5, p = 0.04). Furthermore, increased heart rate a decreased procedural reaction time who 40 65 years age. Discussion For patients, both their state slower response testing. Reduced <4 higher stress. Hemodynamic did not correlate but remained. These findings underscore need early diagnosis mitigate direct other physiological effects on symptoms

Long-COVID-19 syndrome (LCS) exhibits neurological problems such as peripheral neuropathy and autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction. Exercise intolerance and, consequently, low cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) are some of the most common symptoms LCS. We describe a series individuals exhibiting LCS compared to control group posit that this condition may be related exercise capacity-mediated disruption ANS resulting particularly in intolerance.

Despite there being a wide variety of symptoms reported in pediatric long COVID, one condition that has become increasingly recognized is orthostatic intolerance (OI), which can cause significant morbidity, limiting activities daily living. This study examines rates OI 92 children with COVID who underwent bedside passive standing test post-COVID-19 rehabilitation clinic. Seventy-one percent met criteria for an condition, including postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), (OT), classic hypotension (OH), delayed OH, and hypertension. Our findings suggest common necessitating appropriate clinical screening treatment.

Abstract The global impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection has raised concerns about secondary diseases beyond acute illness. This review explores the significance and potential underlying mechanisms how might elicit an immune response targeting N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, its implications for autoimmune-driven neuropsychiatric manifestations. We identified 19 published case reports NMDA receptor encephalitis associated with or vaccination by a systematic literature search. these was limited since it is not clear if coincidental causal relationship exists between manifestation encephalitis. included studies were hampered difficulties in establishing patients had pre-existing antibodies which entered brain infection- vaccination-associated transient blood-brain barrier leakage. In addition, four cases comorbid ovarian teratoma, known trigger development Considering that billions people have contracted COVID-19 been vaccinated against this virus, publication only possible link to encephalitis, indicates rare. conclusion, findings do support led increase existing de novo mediated autoimmune function. Nevertheless, work underscores importance ongoing vigilance monitoring viral outbreaks their on central nervous system through basic, epidemiological translational research.
