Abstract Sarcopenia causes a loss of skeletal muscle mass and decreases strength function. Depressive symptoms are common cause distress among geriatrics, significantly affecting the quality life older adults. Recently, studies have shown that correlation exists between sarcopenia depression. To determine prevalence depressive identify factors associated with sarcopenia, we systematically searched SCOPUS, Science Direct, PubMed databases for papers on published from 2012 to 2022. We reviewed literature symptom prevalence, subjects both symptoms, sarcopenia. Only cross‐sectional were included. Nineteen articles met inclusion criteria review, overall ranging 3.9% 41.7%. The was reported in seven studies, 8.09% 40%. most commonly used tools diagnose European Working Group Older People consensus Geriatric Depression Scale, respectively. Being aged, malnourished, obese, having comorbidities (hypertension diabetes), impaired cognitive function, polypharmacy found be been adverse health outcomes people. Appropriate nutritional assessments interventions should taken manage these two geriatric conditions. Further planned, considering multidomain intervention strategies improve people's mental health.

Previous observational studies suggested that sarcopenia is associated with Parkinson disease (PD), but it unclear whether this association causal. The objective of study was to examine causal associations between sarcopenia-related traits and the risk or progression PD using a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach. Two-sample bidirectional MR analyses were conducted evaluate relationships. Genome-wide (GWAS) summary statistics for traits, including right handgrip strength (n = 461,089), left 461,026), appendicular lean mass 450,243), retrieved from IEU OpenGWAS database. GWAS data derived FinnGen database (4235 cases; 373,042 controls). Summary-level PD, Hoehn Yahr stage 3, dementia, development levodopa-induced dyskinesia, obtained recent publication on in 4093 patients 12 longitudinal cohorts. The prevalence of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has increased substantially in recent years because the global obesity pandemic. MAFLD, now recognized as number one cause chronic world, not only increases liver-related morbidity and mortality among sufferers but also worsens complications associated with other comorbid conditions such cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnoea, lipid disorders sarcopenia. Understanding interplay between MAFLD these comorbidities is important to design optimal therapeutic strategies. Sarcopenia can be either part process that results (e.g. , or adiposity) a consequence especially advanced stages fibrosis cirrhosis. worsen by reducing exercise capacity production various muscle-related chemical factors. Therefore, it crucial thoroughly understand how we deal diseases, when they coexist. We explore pathobiological interlinks sarcopenia this comprehensive clinical update review article propose evidence-based strategies enhance patient care.

Sarcopenia is a multifactorial age-related disorder that causes decrease in muscle mass, strength, and function, leading to alteration of movement, risk falls, hospitalization. This article aims review recent findings on the factors underlying sarcopenia strategies required delay counteract its symptoms. We focus molecular linked ageing, role low-grade chronic acute inflammatory conditions such as cancer, which contributes onset sarcopenia, clinical criteria for diagnosis. The use drugs against still subject debate, suggested approaches restore health are based adequate dietary protein intake physical exercise. also highlight difference amount quality amino acids within animal- plant-based diets, studies have often shown varying results regarding their effect elderly people. In addition, many reported non-pharmacological approaches, an optimization training programs resistance exercise, can be effective preventing delaying sarcopenia. These not only improve maintenance skeletal but reduce care costs life expectancy

The sarcopenia (SI) index, defined as the serum creatinine to cystatin C ratio, is considered a predictor of poor muscle health and malnutrition, which related major adverse cardiovascular events. However, effect SI index on cognitive function in stroke patients remains unknown. In this study, we aimed examine association between longitudinal impairment with acute ischemic or transient attack. Participants who met inclusion criteria national, multicenter, prospective cohort study were enrolled from Impairment Cognition Sleep (ICONS) China National Stroke Registry-3 (CNSR-3). They categorized into four groups according quartile index. Cognitive was assessed using Montreal Assessment (MoCA) scale. Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression models performed evaluate post-stroke (PSCI) at 3-month follow-up. Moreover, discrimination tests used incremental predictive value beyond potential risk factors. Furthermore, subgroup analyses test interactions. Among participants, lower was, worse performance. At follow-up, participants lowest group exhibited 42% increase relative highest [OR 0.58 (95% CI 0.37–0.90)]. after applying test, adding factors resulted slight improvement predicting [NRI 14% (P = 0.01)]. This demonstrated that positively associated higher prevalence PSCI. Monitoring early identification treatment individuals low level may be helpful reduce impairment.

Sarcopenia is a condition that highly prevalent among older adults. This linked to numerous adverse health outcomes, including cognitive impairment impairs healthy ageing. While sarcopenia and may share common pathway, limited longitudinal studies exist show the relationship between these two conditions. Therefore, this study aimed examine association impairment. cohort adults residing in Kuala Pilah District, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. There were 2404 respondents at baseline 1946 one-year follow-up. Cognitive was determined using Mini-mental State Examination scores. identified Asian Working Group for 2019 criteria, gait speed measured 4-meter test, handgrip strength assessed Jamar handheld dynamometer, appendicular skeletal muscle mass bioelectrical impedance analysis. Generalized estimating equation (GEE) used determine impairment, presented as relative risk (RR) its 95% confidence interval. The prevalence of 5.0% (95% CI 4.00–5.90), severe 3.60% 2.84–4.31). Upon adjusting covariates, with have an 80 per cent increased compared those without (RR 1.80; 1.18–2.75). Similarly, found significantly increase by 101 adjusted model 2.01; 1.24–3.27).
