Cancer is the world's second most common cause of death, with colon cancer (CC) ranking third in prevalence and cancer-related fatalities. CC originates or rectum influenced by genetic mutations, lifestyle, diet. Although chemotherapy, especially 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), fundamental to treatment has improved patient survival, its benefits are often limited significant side effects emerging drug resistance. Recently, plant-based foods have drawn interest research for their natural bioactive compounds relatively low toxicity. Certain plant not only exhibit anti-cancer activity but may also boost effectiveness 5-FU while reducing adverse effects. Despite evidence suggesting a synergistic effect between 5-FU, this area remains fragmented. This review consolidates current on including fruits, vegetables, legumes, tea bioactives treatment. Besides, it explores mechanisms through which these enhance efficacy reduce effects, evaluates clinical application prospects, identifies challenges future directions. comprehensive analysis aims provide scientific foundation integrated CC, highlighting potential enhancing chemotherapy associated toxicities.

Toxicity with heavy metals has proven to be a significant hazard several health problems linked it. Heavy bioaccumulate in living organisms, pollute the food chain, and possibly threaten of animals. Many industries, fertilizers, traffic, automobile, paint, groundwater, animal feed are sources contamination metals. Few metals, such as aluminum (Al), may eliminated by elimination processes, but other like lead (Pb), arsenic (As), cadmium (Ca) accumulate body leading chronic toxicity Even if these have no biological purpose, their toxic effects still present some form that is damaging its appropriate functioning. Cadmium (Cd) Pb negative impacts on number physiological biochemical processes when exposed sub-lethal doses. The nephrotoxic Pb, As, Cd well known, high amounts naturally occurring environmental occupational populations exposures an adverse relationship between kidney damage metal exposure. Metal determined absorbed dosage, route exposure, duration whether acute or chronic. This can numerous disorders also result excessive due oxidative stress generated free radical production. concentration decreased through various procedures including bioremediation, pyrolysis, phytoremediation, rhizofiltration, biochar, thermal process. review discusses few mechanisms, cattle special emphasis kidneys.

Heavy metals (HMs) are natural elements present in the Earth’s crust, characterised by a high atomic mass and density more than five times higher water. Despite their origin from sources, extensive usage processing of raw materials presence as silent poisons our daily products diets have drastically altered biochemical balance, making them threat to environment human health. Particularly, food chain polluted with toxic represents crucial route exposure. Therefore, impact HMs on health has become matter concern because severe chronic effects induced excessive levels body. Chelation therapy is an approved valid treatment for HM poisoning; however, despite efficacy demonstrated chelating agents, various dramatic side may occur. Numerous data demonstrate that dietary components phytoantioxidants play significant role preventing or reducing damage HMs. This review summarises phytochemicals, plant herbal extracts probiotics promoting mitigating different

Abstract Background CDGSH iron-sulfur domain-containing protein 2 (CISD2), a pro-longevity gene, mediates healthspan in mammals. CISD2 is down-regulated during aging. Furthermore, persistently high level of promotes longevity and ameliorates an age-related skin phenotype transgenic mice. Here we translate the genetic evidence into pharmaceutical application using potent activator, hesperetin, which enhances expression HEK001 human keratinocytes from older person. We also treated naturally aged mice order to study activator’s anti-aging efficacy. Methods studied biological effects hesperetin on aging using, firstly, cell-based platform, namely keratinocyte cell line established Secondly, used mouse model, old at 21-month old. In latter case, investigate efficacy ultraviolet B (UVB)-induced photoaging skin. identify underlying mechanisms potential pathways involved this process carried out transcriptomic analysis. Finally, knockdown Cisd2 knockout were Cisd2-dependent Results Four findings are pinpointed. Firstly , skin, mainly expressed proliferating epidermal basal layer and, furthermore, sun-exposed epidermis. Secondly person, mitochondrial function protects against reactive oxygen species-induced oxidative stress via increased expression; enhancement CISD2-dependent. Additionally, alleviates UVB-induced damage suppresses matrix metalloproteinase-1 expression, being major indicator keratinocytes. Thirdly analysis revealed that modulates panel differentially genes associated with function, redox homeostasis, inflammation attenuate senescence. Intriguingly, activates two known longevity-associated regulators, FOXO3a FOXM1, suppress senescence-associated secretory phenotype. Finally ameliorate occurs mechanism involving CISD2. Most strikingly, late-life treatment started lasting for 5 months, able retard rejuvenate Conclusions Our results reveal pharmacological elevation stage feasible approach effectively mitigating both intrinsic extrinsic could act as functional food or skincare product fighting

Pinus taeda is an important forest tree species for plantations because of its rapid growth and high yield oleoresins. Although P. distribute in warm wet southern China, drought, sometime serious long time, often occurs the region. To explore drought tolerance usage beneficial microorganisms, seedlings were planted pots inoculated with root endophytic fungus Serendipita indica finally treated stress 53 d. Metabolome proteome their needles analyzed. The results showed that S. inoculation under caused great changes levels some metabolites needles, especially flavonoids organic acids. Among them, eriocitrin, trans -aconitic acid, vitamin C, uric alpha-ketoglutaric A, stachydrine, coumalic itaconic calceolarioside B, 2-oxoglutaric citric acid upregulated more than three times stress, compared to those non-inoculated stress. KEGG analysis pathways enriched such as flavonoid biosynthesis, ascorbate aldarate metabolism, C5-branched dibasic metabolism. Proteome revealed specific differential proteins. Two proteins, namely, H9X056 H9VDW5, only appeared protein H9VNE7 was 11.0 In addition, increased enrichment water deficient-inducible proteins (such LP3-1, LP3-2, LP3-3, dehydrins) involved ribosomal structures A0A385JF23). Meanwhile, biosynthesis metabolism pathways, mainly including phenylpropanoid cutin, suberine wax 2-oxocarboxylic there positive relationships between accumulation Altogether, our metabolome provided a guideline further study functions related
