Microalgae harvesting at an industrial scale remains a techno-economic bottleneck for large-scale microalgae production that can account up to 30% of the total cost biomass production. This paper demonstrates a sequential partitioning method for isolating bioactive compounds from Chrysochromulina rotalis using polarity gradient, replacing classic and hazardous solvents with greener alternatives. Seventeen were evaluated based on their Hansen solubility parameters having similar to the they would replace, four of which selected as substitutes in fractionation process. Considering fatty acid carotenoid recovery yields obtained each solvents, it has been proposed replace hexane (HEX), toluene (TOL), dichloromethane (DCM) n-butanol (BUT) cyclohexane, chlorobenzene, isobutyl acetate isoamyl alcohol, respectively. Natural products from the marine environment as well microalgae, have been known for complexity of metabolites they produce due to their adaptability different environmental conditions, which has an inexhaustible source several bioactive properties, such antioxidant, anti-tumor, and antimicrobial. This study aims characterize main three species microalgae (Nannochloropsis oceanica, Chaetoceros muelleri, Conticribra weissflogii), important applications in biofuel nutrition industries, by 1H High-resolution magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (1H HR-MAS NMR), a method is non-destructive, highly reproducible, requires minimal sample preparation. Even though were found same ecosystem superior production lipid compounds was observed, differences identified relation specialized metabolites.
