Microalgae harvesting at an industrial scale remains a techno-economic bottleneck for large-scale microalgae production that can account up to 30% of the total cost biomass production. A wide range techniques have been applied commercially, among which, coagulation-flocculation prove be both convenient and cost-effective as pre-treatment used in conjunction with other methods. In this study, process wastewater acquired from onshore natural gas facilities Qatar was utilized cultivate freshwater specie Scenedesmus sp. simultaneous pollution abatement applications. cultivated two growth phases (fast slow phases) examine influence phase on flocculation rheological behavior. Effective achieved using commercial high charge density molecular weight cationic polyacrylamide-based flocculant. Flocculation efficiencies exceeded 97% fast suspensions optimum flocculant dose 10 mg/L. Optimum conditions were well corroborated by residual turbidity zeta potential measurements. Phenolic compounds are strong antioxidant and antibacterial agents with great pharmacological, medicinal, nutritional, industrial value. The potential of Morus nigra in stem node culture was investigated for the production phenolic their elicitation CuSO4. Individual samples were identified quantified by using HPLC-PDA HPLC-MS methods, while content total compounds, flavonoids, activity methanolic extracts evaluated spectrophotometrically. highest fresh dry weights obtained plantlets treated 0.5 mM CuSO4 42 days. content, flavonoid determined cultures 3 Under latter conditions, predominant representatives caffeoylquinic acids, p-coumaric acid derivatives, kaempferol quercetin derivatives also achieved content. most abundant compound all chlorogenic acid. nodal M. elicited could potentially be used especially acids. Moreover, considering biochemical response to treatment ability tolerate accumulate copper, application phytoremediation is highlighted.

This paper demonstrates a sequential partitioning method for isolating bioactive compounds from Chrysochromulina rotalis using polarity gradient, replacing classic and hazardous solvents with greener alternatives. Seventeen were evaluated based on their Hansen solubility parameters having similar to the they would replace, four of which selected as substitutes in fractionation process. Considering fatty acid carotenoid recovery yields obtained each solvents, it has been proposed replace hexane (HEX), toluene (TOL), dichloromethane (DCM) n-butanol (BUT) cyclohexane, chlorobenzene, isobutyl acetate isoamyl alcohol, respectively. In addition, cytotoxic activity was observed when TOL DCM solvent extracts tested against tumour cell lines, demonstrating antiproliferative potential containing, example, fucoxanthin, acids, peptides, isoflavonoids or terpenes, among others.

Natural products from the marine environment as well microalgae, have been known for complexity of metabolites they produce due to their adaptability different environmental conditions, which has an inexhaustible source several bioactive properties, such antioxidant, anti-tumor, and antimicrobial. This study aims characterize main three species microalgae (Nannochloropsis oceanica, Chaetoceros muelleri, Conticribra weissflogii), important applications in biofuel nutrition industries, by 1H High-resolution magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (1H HR-MAS NMR), a method is non-destructive, highly reproducible, requires minimal sample preparation. Even though were found same ecosystem superior production lipid compounds was observed, differences identified relation specialized metabolites. These distinct properties favor use these leaders development new compounds, especially against environmental, human, animal pathogens (One Health), demonstrate potential alternatives aquaculture.
