Chitosan ascorbates with different substitution degrees were synthesized on the basis of salification chitosan and ascorbic acid at various molar ratios in water successfully used to prepare antioxidative films by casting for first time. Fourier transform infrared 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectra recorded structural characteristics all ascorbates; meanwhile, physicochemical property antioxidant activity produced ascorbate characterized, acetate film serving as control, these properties also measured comparison. The results revealed that not only improved total color difference, chroma, opacity, capacity blocking ultraviolet–visible light, solubility chitosan-based but decreased content, swelling degree, vapor permeability compared film. Also, was expected, assays showed incorporation into matrix effectively enhanced scavenging against DPPH radical reducing power. Cs2Vc8 Cs2Vc6 especially exhibited strongest capacities (EC50 < 0.025 mg/mL). These findings offered a suggestion prepared can be applied novel green oxidation-resistant materials food packaging industry.

Colitis, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, is characterized by bloody diarrhea and inflammation in the colon. Lonicera hypoglauca (“Shanyinhua” Chinese) Scutellaria baicalensis (“Huangqin” are two traditional Chinese medicinal plants rich polyphenols, such as chlorogenic acid (CGA) baicalin (BA), with effects of anti-inflammation antioxidation. However, it remains unknown whether extracts from L. S. (LSEs) could mitigate colonic inflammation. In present study, ICR mice (22.23 ± 1.65 g) were allocated to three groups treated chow diet without (CON) or dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) (CON+DSS) water LSE supplementation DSS (LSE+DSS), then oxidative parameters microbiota detected. The results showed that (500 mg/kg) treatment mitigated DSS-induced colitis symptoms restored shortened colon length, increased disease activity index (DAI), damaged intestinal barrier. serum, significantly decreased levels pro-inflammatory cytokines including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) IL-10 level. Additionally, gut barriers occludin zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) CON+DSS group enhanced supplementation. Furthermore, regulated microbial communities higher relative abundance Dubosiella Ruminococcus torques lower Bacteroides Turicibacter Moreover, contents short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) products also increased.
