Colitis, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, is characterized by bloody diarrhea and inflammation in the colon. Lonicera hypoglauca (“Shanyinhua” Chinese) Scutellaria baicalensis (“Huangqin” are two traditional Chinese medicinal plants rich polyphenols, such as chlorogenic acid (CGA) baicalin (BA), with effects of anti-inflammation antioxidation. However, it remains unknown whether extracts from L. S. (LSEs) could mitigate colonic inflammation. In present study, ICR mice (22.23 ± 1.65 g) were allocated to three groups treated chow diet without (CON) or dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) (CON+DSS) water LSE supplementation DSS (LSE+DSS), then oxidative parameters microbiota detected.
