Fish scales (FS) are not only a kitchen waste but can also serve as resource when used precursor for the production of activated carbon. However, pore development in carbon derived from FS could be hindered by excessive cracking thermally unstable collagens and fats FS. Herein, an approach impregnating with bio-oil, before being K2C2O4 at 800 °C, was executed, aiming to increase yield, tailor porous structures carbon, find another outlet application bio-oil. The results confirmed that formation diminished due extreme conversion proteins/fats gaseous products during activation. Skin flap transplantations are common methods for covering and repairing tissue defects in surgery, while the survival rates of these skin flaps still low due to vascular crisis necrosis. To improve this situation, herein a novel biohybrid scaffold is proposed by integrating advantages anisotropic fish scales mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) regeneration. The scale obtained through its decellularization decalcification processes, which reserved intact collagen, glycosaminoglycan, other endogenous growth factors MSCs human endothelial proliferation. As maintains intrinsic structures on both surfaces, proliferative can be elongated along aligned scale, endow them capacity differentiate into multiple directions. This review deals with the use seafood side-streams for transformation into valuable products and identifies suitable approaches making it different purposes. Carbon dots as fluorescent probes were fabricated using readily available grass carp fish scales the carbon source via one-step synthesis based on a pyrolytic reaction. The as-prepared scale (GF-CDs) exhibited good biocompatibility and excellent optical properties with high fluorescence quantum yield of 23.8%. Glutathione (GSH) is an essential small tri-peptide molecule present in every body cell plays crucial role vivo performs wide range biological functions. Ag+ can effectively quench GF-CDs because electron transfer between Ag+; however, addition GSH significantly increase GF-CD-Ag+ fluorescence. Because their combination GSH, show selective recovery. serve for detection. This detection method covered linear (1.6-36.0 μg mL-1) lowest limit 0.77 mL-1 manifested great advantages such short analysis time, stability, repeatability, ease operation.
