As an excellent fluorescent nanomaterial, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have the properties of small molecular weight, particle size, high fluorescence stability, no optical flicker, wide excitation spectrum, continuous, long adjustable emission wavelength, good biocompatibility and low toxicity. At present, it has been widely used in biological detection, vivo vitro imaging, drug delivery diagnostic drugs. This review presents a broad overview recent progress synthesis, properties, biomedical applications CQDs. The synthesis methods CQDs are first introduced, followed by extensive discussion its purification, surface functionalization stability. Furthermore, presented, with emphasis on photoluminescence mechanism relationship between conditions properties. review's much focus is given to CQDs, including imaging (in imaging) (targeted therapy, photodynamic photothermal immunological gene therapy). Abstract As a relatively new type of fluorescent carbon‐based nanomaterials, multicolor carbon dots (MCDs) have attracted much attention because their excellent biocompatibility, tunable photoluminescence (PL), high quantum yield, and unique electronic physicochemical properties. The emission characteristics (CDs) obviously depend on the source precursor, reaction conditions, environment, which directly or indirectly determines CDs. Nanozyme technology as an emerging field has been successfully applied to chemical sensing, biomedicine, and environmental monitoring. It is very significant for the advance of this construct nanozymes with high catalytic activity by a simple method develop their multifunctional applications. Here, new type cobalt-doped carbon dots (Co-CDs) was designed using vitamin B12 citric acid precursors. The homogeneous cobalt doping at nuclear led Co-CDs show peroxidase-like resembling natural metalloenzymes. Based on affinity H2O2 (Km = 0.0598 mM), colorimetric sensor glucose detection constructed combining oxidase. On account cascade strategy, good linear relationship obtained from 0.500 200 μM, limit 0.145 μM. biosensor realized accurate in human serum samples. Moreover, could specifically catalyze cancer cells generate variety reactive oxygen species, leading death cells, which useful application potential tumor therapy. In work, adequately exploited, extends multiple biotechnologies, including biosensing, disease diagnosis, treatment.

Fluorescence regulation of carbon dots (CDs) during their preparation has become a hot research topic. In this work, multicolor fluorescent CDs with unconventional luminescence behavior are prepared by using o-, m-, or p-phenylenediamine (o-PD, m-PD, p-PD, respectively) and 2,3-dihydroxynaphthalene rich hydroxyl groups as reaction precursors. Tunable bright blue, yellow, red colors can be obtained solvothermal method under the joint action ethanol hydrochloric acid. The fluorescence emission synthesized follows rule o-PD to m-PD p-PD from blue red, which is contrary most previously reported results (the following an order p-PD). Our reveal that differences in polymerization, surface states, functional groups, graphite N content might main reasons for behavior. addition, these have good applications fields light-emitting diode lighting anticounterfeiting.
