The link between technology and sleep is more complex than originally thought. In this updated theoretical review, we propose a new model informed by the growing body of evidence in area over past 10 years. main change addition bi-directional links use problems. We begin reviewing to date for proposed mechanisms bright light, arousal, nighttime disruptions, displacement. Then, support direction effect (sleep problems preceding use), two mechanisms: before might be used as time filler and/or an emotional regulation strategy facilitate sleep-onset process. Finally, present potential moderators association sleep, recognition protective vulnerability factors that may mitigate or exacerbate effects on vice versa. goal review update field, guide future public health messages, prompt research into how much affect each other, whom it problematic, which explain their association.

Sleep is fundamental for adolescents' healthy development but undergoes dramatic changes in quantity and quality due to the conflict between biological social rhythms. Insufficient sleep has been associated with worse physical health status irregular eating behaviors adolescents. This review aims systematically synthesize longitudinal associations dimensions (i.e., duration, timing, quality, insomnia symptoms) indicators anthropometric indices, fat percentage, risk of obesity), behaviors, nutritional aspects type diet related intake specific foods nutrients, amount timing food consumption, energy expenditure). A total 28 studies were included. The meta-analytic results showed that longer better lower symptoms BMI percentage shorter duration (<7 h) a higher obesity. Conversely, indices not over time. Limited literature examined bidirectional association their aspects. Such knowledge sheds new light on role health, highlighting need examine further interplay these variables.

Background The widespread use of smart devices, particularly among university students, has raised concerns about their impact on sleep quality. Bedtime usage devices is associated with disruptions and poor Objective This study aimed to explore the behavioral perceptual factors influencing students’ intention stop using at bedtime in Saudi Arabia. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted June 2024 distributed via social media platforms students (aged ≥18 years). questionnaire collected data demographics, device habits, perceived negative effects sleep, physical disturbances. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index used assess Path analysis performed evaluate relationships between outcome variables, intended usage, 3 latent variables: quality smartphone effects, during past month. Model fit assessed chi-square, comparative index, root mean square error approximation. Results Of 774 participants, 90.43% (700/774) reported every night 72.48% (561/774) believed negatively affected them next morning. most frequently next-morning symptoms were fatigue or drowsiness (480/774, 62.01%). Common purposes for staying touch friends family (432/774, 55.81%), entertainment (355/774, 45.86%), filling up spare time (345/774, 44.57%). Digital addiction among adolescents is an escalating concern with profound psychological implications, yet validated tools to measure it and studies exploring its relationship remain limited. To validate the Bangla Addiction Scale for Teenagers (Bangla DAST) identify factors of digital Bangladeshi adolescents. Using a two-stage stratified cluster sampling method, data from 1496 in Bangladesh were collected analysed using non-parametric tests, Spearman correlations multiple regression models. The two-factor structure, encompassing attachment devices (Factor 1) compulsive use different places 2) was supported by confirmatory factor analysis (comparative fit index 0.97, Tucker-Lewis 0.95, root mean square error approximation 0.06 [90% CI: 0.056-0.07] standardised residual 0.048). Introduction Screen use in bed has become a widespread habit, particularly among young people. This behavior been associated with poor sleep, some studies indicating that social media may be especially detrimental. However, there is scarcity of research directly comparing the relationship between various screen activities and most existing focus on adolescents rather than adults. study aims to explore sleep students, specifically other screen-based activities. Methods utilized data from cross-sectional Students’ Health Wellbeing Study 2022 included n=45,202 participants aged 18-28 years. Regression analyses were used assess time Results A one-hour increase after going was 59% higher odds having symptoms insomnia reduction duration 24 minutes. The associations outcomes did not differ for versus Independent time, who exclusively had lower longer compared those engaging or mix Discussion present found increased linked poorer across activity type. Future should refine classifications, specific content, employ experimental approaches determine causal mechanisms.
