The rise in fisheries production worldwide has caused a remarkable increase associated anthropogenic waste. This poses significant concerns due to adverse environmental impacts and economic losses. Owing its renewability, high abundance, potential as rich source of many nutrients bioactive compounds, strategies have been developed convert fish waste into different value-added products. Conventional improved methods used for the extraction biomolecules from extracted waste-derived products such enzymes, peptides, oil, etc. fortify food review aims provide an overview nature composition waste, extracting application calcium other fortification animal feed discussed. In context fishery mitigation, valorization, circular bioeconomy approach are gaining momentum, aiming eliminate while producing high-quality discards.

Abstract The synthesis of bioactive peptides demonstrates strong antioxidant, anti-proliferative, anti-hypertensive, and anti-diabetic attributes. This presents a promising path for developing cost-effective pharmaceuticals that have fewer side effects as they are derived from foods. Production through enzymatic hydrolysis exhibits greater potential compared to alternative chemical-assisted hydrolysis. purification involves size fractionation techniques such ultrafiltration gel filtration. Further separation using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) aids in the production with different hydrophobicity which may specific bioactivities. Sequencing is commonly completed Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), electrospray ionization (ESI), Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS). Generally, smaller lower molecular weights exhibit higher bioactivity due absorption within gastrointestinal tract. While most investigations into been conducted vitro only few studies confirmed these findings vivo, particularly regarding bioavailability toxicity fish protein especially individuals non-communicable diseases (NCDs) cancer, cardiovascular, diabetes chronic respiratory. Bioactivities show cardioprotective, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidative effects, suggesting their treatments preventive care NCD. research strongly encouraged explore aspects comprehensively. Due to the excellent quality of protein and other nutrients they provide, marine products are significant sources nourishment for people. Therefore, food sector is expanding quickly, which leads an increasing amount by-product production associated environmental issues. Marine by-products include head, viscera, skin, blood, bones rich in nutritive macromolecules such as proteins. These proteins can be used pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, industries. This review's main objective highlight emerging trends recovery applications from fish seafood by-products, with a particular emphasis on environmentally friendly methods. this paper overviews impacts extraction methods rate, energy effectiveness, quality, including microwave, supercritical fluids, pressurized liquid, pulsed electric fields, ultrasound, membrane technology, steam explosion. All these technologies involve applying energy/pressure different forms that break down cell walls membranes, leading releasing final extract characteristics depending method its pressure/energy intensity.

A major challenge facing sustainable seafood production is the voluminous amounts of nutrient-rich side streams consisting by-catch, processing discards, and process effluents. There a lack comprehensive model for optimal valorization streams. Upcoming green chemistry-based has potential to recover diverse valuable compounds from in an ecofriendly manner. Microbial enzymatic bioconversions form processes capable releasing biomolecules matrices under mild conditions. Novel solvents, because their low toxicity recyclable nature, can extract bioactive compounds. Nonthermal technologies such as ultrasound, supercritical fluid, membrane filtration complement extractions. The extracted proteins, peptides, polyunsaturated fatty acids, chitin, chitosan, others function nutraceuticals, food supplements, additives, etc. Green address environmental, economic, technological challenges streams, thereby supporting production. also encourage bioenergy Multiple processes, integrated marine biorefinery, optimize on zero-waste trade-off, circular blue economy. framework meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) United Nations.

As global fish consumption rises, a large amount of waste is generated that generally neglected. Considering the value embedded in these resources, sustainable methods become more important extracting valuable ingredients from processing residues. Enzymatic hydrolysis fast and easily reproducible method for recovering protein obtaining by-products. To confirm its advantages, an environmental economic impact assessment essential. This study overviewed sustainability viability compounds oil Atlantic mackerel residues using enzymatic hydrolysis. Life cycle (LCA) life cost analysis (LCCA) were employed. It was found climate change whole process 0.073 kg CO2-eq per 1 g hydrolysate (FPH). produces FPH as main product by-product, allocation used to distribute impacts oil. The findings LCCA showed producing costs EUR 3.68. contribution indicated crucial role electricity impacts. ensure accuracy calculation, results LCA published previously recalculated. sensitivity susceptible region source production. research provides insights into aspects oils mackerel. can inform future investigations environmentally friendly economically viable solutions ingredients.
