In this paper, an amphiphilic calix[8]arene with polyethylene glycol unit branches (C8A-PEG) was synthesized and applied for capillary gas chromatography (GC). The C8A-PEG coated on the inner wall of a column by static method efficiency 3165 plates/m polar nature. As demonstrated, has excellent physicochemical properties separation performance since it π-electron-rich 3D cavity which combines PEG units. Compared two columns corresponding to construction units C8A PEG, shows distinctly advantageous mixture 22 components diverse types. Two offline multidimensional chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometry systems (method 1: fractionation and online two-dimensional liquid chromatography, 2D-LC; method 2: 2D-LC) were established to characterize the metabolites simultaneously from three Glycyrrhiza species. Ion exchange chromatography in first-dimensional (1D) separation was well fractionated between acidic (mainly triterpenoids) weakly components (flavonoids). These obtained subsamples got sophisticated by second (2D) third dimension (3D) of either reversed-phase × (RPC RPC) or hydrophilic interaction RPC (HILIC RPC). Orthogonality for 2D/3D separations reached 0.73 1 0.81 2, respectively. Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) possess a rich historical background, unique theoretical framework, remarkable therapeutic efficacy, and abundant resources. However, the modernization internationalization of TCMs have faced significant obstacles due to their diverse ingredients unknown mechanisms. To gain deeper insights into phytochemicals ensure quality control TCMs, there is an urgent need enhance analytical techniques. Currently, two-dimensional (2D) chromatography, which incorporates two independent separation mechanisms, demonstrates superior capabilities compared traditional one-dimensional (1D) system when analyzing samples. Over past decade, new techniques been continuously developed actionable from complex This review presents recent advancements in application multidimensional chromatography for evaluation encompassing 2D-gas (GC), 2D-liquid (LC), as well emerging three-dimensional (3D)-GC, 3D-LC, associated data-processing approaches. Compatibility with the varying prescription ratios is a unique feature in Chinese medicine practice. Sishen formula (SSF; containing Psoraleae Fructus-PF, Myristicae Semen-MyS, Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus-SCF, and Euodiae Fructus-EF) different proportions has been used to treat irritable bowel syndrome, however, underlying chemical difference needs be clarified, particularly influence on extracting those known toxic components. To tackle this issue, an integrated strategy was developed: 1) systematic multicomponent characterization by off-line two-dimensional liquid chromatography/ion mobility time-of-flight mass spectrometry (2D-LC/IM-QTOF-MS) approach HDMSE-HDDDA hybrid scan; 2) discovery of potential markers associated SSF proportion variation untargeted metabolomics; 3) quantitative assays representative multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) unveil effects dissolution Consequently, orthogonal separation, high sensitivity detection, intelligent data interpretation, enabled 233 compounds from decoction. A challenge in the quality control of traditional Chinese medicine is systematic multicomponent characterization compound formulae. Jiawei Fangji Huangqi, a modified form prescription comprising seven herbal medicines. To address chemical complexity Huangqi decoction, we integrated ion mobility-quadrupole time-of-flight high-definition MSE coupled to ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography and intelligent data processing workflows available UNIFI software package. Good chromatographic separation was achieved on CORTECS UPLC T3 column within 52 min, high-accuracy MS2 were acquired using negative positive modes. library 1250 compounds created incorporated into enable automatic peak annotation data. Ephedra is one of the world's most important plants, used in medicine, plants and ecology. Most grows plain areas stable. But plateau environment special, with change altitude, variety difference saxatilis very obvious. E. metabolism on Tibetan Plateau not only affected by but also environmental conditions such as climate different soil components. However, mechanism alkaloids special ecological still unclear. Therefore, we analyzed metabolic altitude species Plateau. Through functional analysis Kyoto Metabolism Metabolomic Encyclopedia (KEGG), can determine that number metabolites decreases increase there are differences among three mountains. This was confirmed univariate top five pathways. Based metabolomics, it found water content a factor affecting metabolism. According to vertical height gradient, ephedrine pseudephedrine showed same under Ephedrine increased gradient increased, pseudoephedrine decreased decreased. Our results provide valuable information for further study efficacy stability. It provides useful reference research planting area.
