Plastics pose a huge threat to the environment. Plastic accumulation in land and seas is now world’s most terrorising problem, mainly because of its non-degrading character. degradation has always been next impossible concept field science, but nanotechnology provides revolutionary modern way solve problem plastic One great advantages nanoparticles that we can increase decrease rate biodegradation depending on our needs. Nanoparticles enhance polythene capacity microorganisms by altering their metabolic cycles. Numerous studies showed conclusively incorporation enhances ability degrade materials. Even though bio degradable plastics are nowadays produced large quantities substitute materials, they fail match brittleness plastics. Biodegradable have poor thermal, mechanical low gas barrier qualities, which main drawbacks. To overcome this, incorporated into biopolymers. If an appropriate balance between nanotechnology, microbiology biotechnology found, be done economically feasibly all areas.

Plastics are useful and beneficial materials that contribute to an improved quality of life, yet they generate significant solid wastes emissions consume energy resources. Systems analysis is incomplete on current linear production systems plastics supply chains their associated processes. Our study combines material flow life cycle assessment data sets polyethylene terephthalate (PET) the main polyolefin polymers in United States, comprising over 70% flows. This estimates total greenhouse gas (GHG) consumption these chains, including transportation end-of-life processes, lacking prior studies. We calculate annual GHG plastic be 101 MMT CO2-eq 3248 PJ 2019, respectively. The represented 1.5% U.S. 5% industry-related emissions. 3.1% 2019. Transportation PET contributes 2% chain consumption, baseline provides a benchmark enables comparison future circular for States.

The growing danger of plastic pollution and its catastrophic effects on marine ecosystems highlight the pressing need for creative approaches to water governance as well a thorough legal framework. Marine comprises mixture chemicals debris, primarily originating from terrestrial sources finding way into ocean through runoff or wind dispersion. Also, typical forms debris encompass range items such shopping bags, beverage bottles, cigarette butts, bottle caps, food wrappers fishing gear. In line with objectives Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14) Life Below Water, this chapter explores methods that can be scaled up mitigate eventually eradicate by integrates policy assessments, framework tactics via an interdisciplinary approach suggest practical addressing worldwide issue.

Rivers are vital water sources for humans and homes aquatic organisms. Conversely, they well known as the route of plastics into ocean. Despite being world's number one emitter riverine ocean, microplastics (MPs), or plastic particles less than 5 mm, in Philippines' rivers relatively unexplored. Water samples were collected from six sampling stations along river channel Cagayan de Oro River, largest Northern Mindanao, Philippines. The extracted microplastics' abundance, distribution, characteristics analyzed using a stereomicroscope Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). results showed mean concentration 300 items/m3 MPs dominated by blue-colored (59%), fiber (63%), 0.3-0.5 mm (44%), polyacetylene (48%) particles. highest was recorded near mouth river, lowest middle area. findings indicated significant difference MP at stations. This study is first assessment microplastic Mindanao. this will aid formulating mitigation strategies reducing emissions.

Abstract The excessive production and use of new plastic materials pose a critical environmental challenge, reducing its consumption has emerged as major global hurdle. Understanding human behavior is thus essential for creating circular economy plastics. study aims to gain insights into consumers' buying habits concerning recycled plastic, which received relatively little attention in prior research on the subject environmentally friendly consumer behavior. This draws Theory Planned Behavior analyze factors influencing regarding products packaging made from plastic. To this end, we employed questionnaire, was administered 511 consumers Italy. Results support that concerns about plastics perceived efficacy exert direct influence attitudes. Additionally, our findings demonstrate social norms, attitudes, behavioral control significantly shape purchasing behaviors contributes extending model predicting environmental-friendly by adding empirical evidence provides valuable suggestions companies develop effective communication strategies policies redirect towards less-impacting
