Microplastics (MPs) are recognized as environmental pollutants with potential implications for human health. Considering the rapid increase in obesity rates despite stable caloric intake, there is a growing concern about link between and exposure to pollutants, including MPs. In this study, we conducted comprehensive investigation utilizing silico, vitro, vivo approaches explore brain distribution physiological effects of Molecular docking simulations were performed assess binding affinity three plastic polymers (ethylene, propylene, styrene) immune cells (macrophages, CD4+, CD8+ lymphocytes). The results revealed that styrene exhibited highest macrophages. Furthermore, vitro experiments employing fluorescence-labeled PS-MPs (fPS-MPs) 1 μm at various concentrations demonstrated dose-dependent fPS-MPs BV2 murine microglial cells. Subsequent oral administration high-fat diet-induced obese mice led co-existence blood, exacerbating impaired glucose metabolism insulin resistance promoting systemic inflammation. Additionally, detected throughout brain, increased activation microglia hypothalamus. These findings suggest significantly contribute exacerbation inflammation by activating peripheral central inflammatory

Abstract Hydrogels have been employed for water purification applications, but their performance and strength are unsatisfactory widespread adoption. Recently, hydrogel nanocomposites proposed to resolve the inherent challenges faced by hydrogels treatment. This review comprehensively analyzes treatment using adsorbent photocatalysis techniques. The structure, classification, tunable synthesis methods of explained. Further, how can be incorporated with functional nanoparticles (NPs) used as templates/precursors developing advanced 3D architectures, including formation nanocomposite beads printing objects discussed. Finally, structure‐property relationships critically reviewed considering introductory gelation chemistry, such swelling characteristics, mechanical properties, stimuli‐responsiveness, ionic/electronic conduction. extensive cross‐linking polymer chains NPs offers high mass/charge transport, surface areas, enhanced polymer‐water interactions achieve high‐performing adsorbents photocatalysts. Plastic materials that are less than 5 mm in size defined as Microplastics (MPs). MPs intentionally produced called primary MPs; however, the most abundant type environment consists of remainder created by fragmentation large plastic debris through physical, chemical, and oxidative processes, which secondary MPs. Due to their abundance environment, poor degradability, toxicological properties, negative impact on aquatic terrestrial organisms, including humans, MP pollution has become a global environmental issue. Combatting requires both remediation preventive measures. Although is must, considering where technology stands today, it may take long time make happen. Prevention, other hand, can be should done now. However, effectiveness measures depends heavily how well escape routes researched understood. In this research, we argue such (rather, loopholes) exist not only due mismanaged waste, but also cracks current waste management systems. One known loophole facilitated wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). The inability existing WWTP retain finer MPs, finally released water bodies together with treated wastewater, along return captured larger back landfills release into land applications, few examples. Organic composting upcycling incineration ash provide pathways. addition, important understand plastics circulation (active use idling) responsible for producing regular wear tear. Closing these loopholes best attempted policy interventions.

Abstract Background Nanoplastics (NPs) are now a new class of pollutants widely present in the soil, atmosphere, freshwater and marine environments. can rapidly penetrate cell membranes accumulate human tissues organs, thus posing potential threat to health. The heart is main power source body. But up now, toxicological effects long-term exposure nanoplastics on has not been revealed yet. Results We evaluated long term cardiac cell/tissue vitro vivo model. Furthermore, we explored molecular mechanism by which causes myocardial senescence. Immunohistochemistry, indirect immunofluorescence ELISA were performed detect aging. found that able induce significant aging through series biochemical assays vivo. In vitro, investigated, internalize into cardiomyocytes time dose-dependant manner. Further analysis showed induces senescence detecting marker molecules. Molecular research shows may cause mitochondrial destabilization inducing oxidative stress, leads leakage mtDNA from mitochondria cytoplasm, then cytoplasm-localized mt-DNA activates cGAS-STING signaling pathway promotes inflammation response, ultimately Conclusions this work, premature heart. Current also reveals cardiomyocyte This study laid foundation for further studying harm Graphical abstract
