Objective Physical activity (PA) has emerged as an important element of supportive care for cancer patients, but few patients engage with exercise. Considering that autonomy support is associated healthy lifestyles, it would be useful to know the specific autonomy-supportive techniques can help encourage PA in colorectal (CRC) patients. This study aims qualitatively explore perceptions through a self-determination-theory-based exercise program (FIT-CANCER) CRC during chemotherapy treatment.

Background Breast (BCa) and prostate (PCa) cancer are two of the most common but survivable cancers. One important component survivorship that is impacted by treatment long term diminished quality life (QoL). Supervised exercise improves QoL subsequent outcomes not accessible for all survivors. Additionally, many factors influence including physical activity (PA), cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), function, fatigue. However, COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted need to increase access beyond supervised facilities. Home-based may provide a feasible alternative survivors especially those living in rural communities. Objectives The primary aim investigate effects home-based training (Pre-training vs. Post-training) on BCa/PCa. A secondary PA, CRF, fatigue potential moderators (age, cancer-type, intervention duration type). trials (randomized crossover or quasi-experimental design) with adults (aged 18 years over) breast (not currently undergoing chemotherapy radiation treatment) were eligible inclusion. Data sources Electronic databases searched (inception-December 2022) studies which included adult BCa PCa chemotherapy/radiation), at least measured QoL, unsupervised, training. Alberta Cancer Exercise (ACE) is an exercise oncology programme that transitioned from in-person to online delivery during COVID-19. The purpose of this work was understand participants' experiences in both modes. Specifically, survivors' facilitators and barriers, mode preference, experience with elements targeting behaviour change were gathered. A retrospective cohort design using explanatory sequential mixed methods used. Briefly, 57 participants completed a survey, 19 subsequent, optional interviews conducted. Most indicated preferring programmes (58%), followed by (32%), no preference (10%). There significantly fewer barriers (i.e., commute time) (p < 0.01), but also social support) exercising the programme. Four themes generated qualitative data surrounding participant Key differences highlighted more convenient relative socially supportive environment in-person. For future includes solely delivery, focusing on building support sense community will be critical optimising benefits. Beyond COVID-19 pandemic, results research remain relevant as we aim increase reach programming underserved populations individuals living cancer.

Background Cancer is a significant public health issue worldwide. Treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy often cause psychological physiological side effects, affecting patients’ ability to function their quality of life (QoL). Physical activity crucial cancer rehabilitation, improving physical QoL reducing cancer-related fatigue. However, many patients face barriers accessing rehabilitation due socioeconomic factors, transportation issues, time constraints. Telerehabilitation can potentially overcome these by delivering remotely. Objective The aim the study identify how telemedicine used for with cancer. Methods This scoping review followed recognized frameworks. We conducted an electronic literature search on PubMed studies published between January 2015 May 2023. Inclusion criteria were reporting telerehabilitation interventions cancer, including randomized nonrandomized controlled trials, feasibility studies, usability studies. In total, 21 met included in final review. Results Our yielded 37 papers, Randomized trials comprised 47% (n=10) at 33% (n=7) 19% (n=4). Sample sizes typically 50 or fewer participants 57% (n=12) reports. Participants generally aged 65 years younger (n=17, 81%), balanced gender distribution. Organ-specific cancers focus 66% (n=14) while 28% (n=6) who posttreatment period. Web-based systems most technology (n=13, 61%), phone call SMS text messaging–based (n=9, 42%) mobile apps (n=5, 23%). Exercise programs mainly home based (n=19, 90%) aerobic 90%), resistance flexibility training (n=7, 33%). Outcomes improvements functional capacity, cognitive functioning, (n=10, 47%); reductions pain hospital length stay; enhancements fatigue, emotional well-being, anxiety. Positive effects (n=3, 14%), acceptability (n=8, 38%), cost-effectiveness (n=2, 9%) also noted. Functional outcomes frequently assessed 71%) tools like 6-minute walk test grip strength tests. Conclusions beneficial feasible, diverse approaches design, technologies, exercises, outcomes. Future research should developing standardized methodologies, incorporating objective measures, exploring emerging technologies virtual reality, wearable noncontact sensors, artificial intelligence optimize interventions. Social support can be facilitated through exercise programs for people living with cancer, but there is limited research on how best to foster it in online oncology classes. This study examined current training that fitness professionals receive the provision and facilitation of social support, experiences cancer have supportive behaviours barriers providing obtaining group Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Guided by interpretive description methodology, materials were reviewed, observations professional classes (n = 10) conducted, adults beyond 19) 15) interviewed. These data collected from January 2021 June 2021. Analysis resulted identification three themes: Creating a welcoming environment, helping improve ability reach goals, learning provide facilitate online. A catalogue help hinder presented. ABSTRACT Context Given the rapid transition of many cancer-specific community-based exercise programs to videoconference-delivered online (VOE) during coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, little is known about reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance these programs. Objective The purpose this scoping review was synthesize practice-based information regarding VOE for cancer survivors in settings. Design To identify relevant programs, searches were conducted peer-reviewed articles published electronic databases listed Moving Through Cancer directory. Eligibility Criteria be included, had meet following criteria: 1) participants adult (>18 yr) survivors, 2) included one or more sessions addition any preprogram assessment/intake, 3) defined as a program with primary focus delivering service survivors. Meeting the physical activity (PA) guidelines (i.e., ≥ 150 min/week of aerobic PA and/or 2 days/week resistance training) is beneficial for cancer survivors' well-being. However, impact changes in participation during COVID-19 pandemic on well-being survivors remains unknown. Accordingly, purpose this study was to examine associations between and pandemic. Cancer participated a cross sectional, online survey globally. The 20-Item Short Form Survey modified Godin Leisure Time Exercise Questionnaire assessed PA, respectively. Separate analysis covariance examined across change categories: abstainers, adopters, relapsers maintainers. Background: Resistance training (RT) yields physical and psychological benefits for women living with beyond breast cancer (WBC). This study examined the feasibility of a virtually delivered 8-week socially supportive RT intervention among WBC assessed changes in activity body image. Methods: A pilot single-arm pre–post design was implemented. Forty-one were matched as exercise partners asked to complete two sessions per week—one qualified professional (QEP) one their peer. Data collected at baseline (T1), post-intervention (T2), 20 weeks post-baseline (T3). Results: The enrolment rate 42%, attendance QEP 63.8% 40.0% peer sessions, retention 87%. No adverse events reported. Total weekly minutes significantly (p < 0.05) increased by 42 minutes/week during decreased 25 min/week follow-up. Upper lower muscle strength 0.01) intervention. Increased associated favorable self-perceptions. Conclusions: feasible, safe, demonstrated preliminary evidence increasing time WBC. Virtually interventions can improve access
