The
calixarene-based
ligand—4-tert-butylsulfonylcalix[4]arene
has
the
capacity
of
coordinating
with
various
metal
cations
either
individually
by
itself
or
together
carboxylate/thiol-containing
coligands.
Interestingly,
different
types
cations,
counterions
and
variable
solvents
not
only
generated
diverse
coordinated
cages
special
morphology
topology,
but
also
provided
a
tool
in
controlling
their
porosities,
hierarchical
architectures,
physiochemical
properties.
Particularly,
those
porous
structures,
properly
sized
cage/cavity-like
spaces,
as
well
selected
active
elemental
components
greatly
promoted
applications
to
electrocatalytic
reactions
such
hydrogen
evolution
reaction,
oxygen
reaction
reduction
reaction.
In
this
chapter,
we
summarized
discussed
preparation
electrocatalysis,
academic
industrial
concerns
suggestions
future
researches.

Abstract
Single
molecule
localization
microscopy
based
on
photoactivation
is
a
powerful
tool
for
investigating
the
ultrastructure
of
cells.
We
developed
general
strategy
photoactivatable
fluorophores,
using
2,3‐dihydro‐1,4‐oxathiine
group
(SO)
as
tag
to
attach
various
skeletal
structures,
including
coumarin,
BODIPY,
rhodamine,
and
cyanine.
The
conjugation
SO
resulted
in
significant
loss
fluorescence
due
photoinduced
electron
transfer
(PeT).
Under
irradiation
excitation
light,
singlet
oxygen
generated
by
fluorophores
converted
moiety
into
its
ester
derivative,
terminated
PeT
process,
restored
fluorescence.
