Mounting evidence supports the connections between exposure to environmental typologies––such as green spaces––and human health. However, mechanistic links that connect biodiversity (the variety of life) and health, extent supporting remain less clear. Here, we undertook a scoping review map health summarise levels associated using an established weight framework. Distinct from other reviews, provide additional context regarding environment-microbiome-health axis, evaluate buffering pathway (e.g., impacts on air pollution), examples three under- or minimally-represented linkages. Abstract Urbanization reduces microbiological abundance and diversity, which has been associated with immune mediated diseases. Urban greening may be used as a prophylactic method to restore diversity in cities among urbanites. This study evaluated the impact of air-circulating green walls on bacterial human skin, responses determined by blood cytokine measurements. Human subjects working offices two Finnish (Lahti Tampere) participated two-week intervention, where were installed rooms experimental group. Control group worked without walls. Skin samples collected before (Day0), during (Day14) weeks after (Day28) intervention. The relative genus Lactobacillus Shannon phylum Proteobacteria class Gammaproteobacteria increased Proteobacterial was connected lower proinflammatory IL-17A level participants Lahti. In addition, change TGF-β1 levels opposite between control As skin are considered advantageous for health, induce beneficial changes microbiome. immunomodulatory potential deserves further research attention.

For decades research has centered on identifying the ideal balanced skin microbiome that prevents disease and developing therapeutics to foster this balance. However, single idealized balance may not exist. The changes across lifespan. This is reflected in dynamic shifts of microbiome's diverse, inter-connected community microorganisms with age. While there are core microbial taxa, precise composition for any individual person determined by local physiology, genetics, microbe–host interactions, microbe–microbe interactions. As a key interface environment, surface its appendages also constantly exchanging microbes close personal contacts environment. Hormone fluctuations immune system maturation drive age-dependent physiology support different structures over time. Here, we review recent insights into factors shape throughout life. Collectively, works summarized within highlight how, depending where lifespan, our supports robust communities, while still maintaining features unique us. will how disruptions can influence risk dermatological diseases as well impact lifelong health.

Abstract Biodiversity is widely linked to human health, however, connections between health and soil biodiversity in urban environments remain poorly understood. Here, we stress that reductions elevate risks but can improve through pathways including suppressing pathogens, remediating soil, shaping a beneficial microbiome promoting immune fitness. We argue targeted enhancement of could support both outdoor indoor settings. The potential enhanced benefit reflects an important yet understudied field fundamental applied research.

Abstract The One Health approach is a collaborative and interdisciplinary strategy with focal point on human, animal, environmental health interconnections. can support the advanced management of allergic diseases asthma, as complex, multifactorial driven by interactions between resilience response to exposome. According concept asthma arising from exposures wide range allergens, infectious agents irritants (such pollutants) occurring indoors outdoors be heavily influenced (air, water, soil quality) intermingled animal health. These are currently impacted climate change, land use, urbanization, migration, overpopulation, many more. Thus, coordinated address underlying factors that contribute development needs focus environment, altogether. Collaborative efforts across multiple sectors, including public health, veterinary medicine, science, community engagement thus needed. A activities, monitoring surveillance data, targeted interventions reduce allergens irritants, research mechanisms drive needed move field forward. In this consensus document elaborated European Academy Allergy Clinical Immunology (EAACI) American Allergy, Asthma, (AAAAI) under practical allergy (PRACTALL) series, we provide insights into Heath aiming framework for addressing complex nature asthma.

Abstract Gut microbes shape many aspects of organismal biology, yet how these key bacteria transmit among hosts in natural populations remains poorly understood. Recent work mammals has emphasized either transmission through social contacts or indirect environmental contact, but the relative importance different routes not been directly assessed. Here we used a novel radio-frequency identification-based tracking system to collect long-term high-resolution data on relationships, space use and microhabitat wild population mice ( Apodemus sylvaticus ), while regularly characterizing their gut microbiota with 16S ribosomal RNA profiling. Through probabilistic modelling resulting data, identify positive statistically distinct signals transmission, captured by networks overlap home ranges, respectively. Strikingly, microorganisms biological attributes drove signals. While network effect was driven anaerobic bacteria, shared most influenced aerotolerant spore-forming bacteria. These findings support prediction that contact is important for transfer low oxygen tolerance, those can tolerate form spores may be able indirectly environment. Overall, results suggest spread biologically members mammalian microbiota.

Abstract Evidence suggests that soil microorganisms, to which humans have been exposed throughout our evolutionary history, were essential for the evolution of human gut microbiome and immunological resilience. The prevalence of allergic diseases, such as asthma, rhinitis, eczema, and sick building syndrome (SBS), has increased drastically in the past few decades.
