To foster the responsible development and governance of CRISPR, it is important to understand how agricultural communities perceive discuss this technology. This study conducted a content analysis 529 articles from 53 diverse news publications across sectors U.S. regions between 2012 2022. We analyzed CRISPR technology depicted in terms risk, benefit, social/policy context, quoted experts, mentioning other biotechnologies. Our findings show that time was developed for agriculture over decade ago, has consistently reflected pro-innovation stance, frequently describing its benefits as well advantages longer-standing Industry representatives were most frequently, followed by university scientists political representatives, while producers non-governmental groups least frequently. Technology-related risks (off-target effects, financial risks) notably lacking, but CRISPR's social context covered more extensively, including uncertainties regulation consumer acceptance. discussed implications professionals, communicators, future researchers, emphasizing importance fostering balanced discourse ensuring informed decision-making within sector.

The terms "New Genomic Techniques" (NGTs) or "Genome Editing" refer to various methods that allow finding, cleaving, and repairing specific sequences in the genome. These techniques could contribute managing challenges plant breeding agriculture. Aside from regulatory uncertainties, lack of consumer acceptance has frequently been cited as a significant barrier widespread use NGTs agriculture across planet. This study was based on an anonymous online survey (N = 1202). It investigated what consumers two countries differ gene technology regulation, namely United States America Switzerland, thought about three applications (i.e., blight-resistant potato, gluten-free wheat, cold-resistant soybean). highlights importance affect heuristic for acceptance, half participants both expressed positive feelings regarding applications, quarter negative, remaining torn neutral emotions. Some evidence provided context might have acted risk cue, Switzerland more negative feelings, perceptions, lower than America. Lastly, our findings underscore collaboration between life sciences social balancing technological innovations public perceptions which shown this be impacted by affect, values, context.

The agricultural sector faces significant challenges in meeting rising food demands while addressing environmental sustainability and climate change. Adopting advanced technologies is crucial for transitioning to more sustainable farming practices. However, ensure successful implementation of such technologies, consumers other supply chain actors should embrace them. Understanding the factors that hinder or facilitate this acceptance therefore essential. This systematic review analyzes recent studies on determinants new crop production aimed at sustainability. Comprehensive searches across three electronic databases were conducted June 2023, following PRISMA guidelines. Out 3,010 screened articles, 418 assessed eligibility, 60 papers comprising 69 selected. found consumer often limited by emotional barriers perceived risks, farmers are mainly concerned with economic business-related risks. Facilitators both groups include benefits, education, social networks. also highlights gaps literature, as need using theoretical frameworks a greater emphasis dimensions. provides valuable insights enhancing adoption offers recommendations policymakers, researchers, practitioners support ecological transition agriculture.

Innovation in agriculture has been essential improving productivity of crops and forages to support a growing population, living standards while contributing toward maintaining environment integrity, human health, wellbeing through provision more nutritious, varied, abundant food sources. A crucial part that innovation involved range techniques for both expanding exploiting the genetic potential plants. However, some used generating new variation plant breeders exploit are deemed higher risk than others despite end products processes at times being all intents purposes identical benefits they provide. As result, public concerns often triggered by poor communication from innovators, resulting mistrust suspicion has, turn, caused development regulatory systems. The logic motivations modes regulation reviewed how use these technologies can be delivered efficiently effectively is discussed.

Notwithstanding ongoing efforts through supplementation and fortification programs, the burden of vitamin A deficiency remains high among poor rural populations. To address this, a pro-vitamin A-enriched genetically modified (GM) rice variety, known as Golden Rice (GR), has been developed complementary, cost-effective micronutrient strategy. Despite its potential, success future implementation will heavily rely on acceptance purchase intention target Therefore, this study investigated determinants GR from survey 540 consumers Bangladesh. On average, exhibited strong to GR. Hierarchical regression analysis demonstrated that sociodemographic factors (age), cognitive behavioral (prior knowledge, perceived benefits about GR, attitudes toward GM crops, dietary choices), expectations marketing (overall, price, distribution) positively influenced consumers’ other hand, having more negative risk perceptions higher income levels reduced intentions. By using between-subjects design based five information treatments, role is examined in two ways, i.e., length presentation format. Findings series two-way ANOVAs revealed exposure detailed significantly intentions, especially when level was low. Additionally, presented video or an wheel proved effective than text. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers health planners devising communication strategies decision-making regarding but controversial

Genetically modified (GM) foods are important because of their ability to increase crop yields, resist disease and adverse weather conditions, improve nutritional quality. However, use generates controversy concerns about food safety, benefits risks due consumption. It is therefore necessary evaluate the importance these variables. The current study evaluated variables that explain consumers' intention purchase GM in Panama. was carried out by prospective, quantitative, non-experimental, correlational research 385 consumers. A multivariate technique model proposed study. Attitude toward safety showed a negative effect on perceived from positive food. Also, Perceived presented significant Attitudes towards Finally, positively affected intention. Firms can outcomes prepare new strategies for communication products with components. governments information create education programs population foods, risks. Future studies other regions needed.

Advancements in New Plant Breeding Techniques have emerged as promising tools for enhancing crop productivity, quality, and resilience the face of global challenges, such climate change food security. However, successful implementation these techniques relies also on public acceptance this innovation. Understanding what shapes perception is crucial effective science communication, policymaking, sustainable adoption innovations. The objective systematic review was to synthesize existing research applied crops explore psychosocial determinants that influence acceptance. Twenty papers published between 2015 2023 were included various their reception by general public. Determinants affecting derived from categorized into six areas: sociodemographic factors, perceived benefits risks, attitudes toward science, communication strategies, personal values, product characteristics.
