AbstractPolyphenols have received considerable attention for their promotive effects on colonic health. However, polyphenols are mostly sensitive to harsh gastrointestinal environments, thus, must be protected. It is necessary design and develop a colon-targeted delivery system improve the stability, colon-targeting bioavailability of polyphenols. This paper mainly introduces research controlled release The physiological features affecting dissolution, absorption polyphenol-loaded systems in colon first discussed. Simultaneously, types carriers with different mechanisms described, assessment models that been studied so far advantages limitations summarized. Abstract The increasing prevalence of health issues, driven by sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy diets in modern society, has led to a growing demand for natural dietary supplements support overall well‐being. Probiotic have garnered widespread recognition their potential benefits. However, efficacy is often hindered the hostile conditions gastrointestinal tract. To surmount this challenge, biomaterial‐based microencapsulation techniques been extensively employed shield probiotics from harsh environments stomach acid bile salts, facilitating precise delivery colon optimal nutritional effects.
