Major global gulfs are essential for economic development but remain highly vulnerable to environmental pollutants. Despite progress in gulf research, the extent of research investment environments across different regions worldwide remains unclear, which hinders a unified framework bay management. We aim fill this gap by integrating GIS and Python-based methods identify ten largest globally conducting statistical analysis publications from 2000 2024 these gulfs, based on Web Science core database. find that publication numbers show correlation with size gulf. However, Gulf Mexico St. Lawrence higher volumes, likely influenced activities major incidents. In contrast, such as Hudson Bay Carpentaria receive relatively less attention. This suggests scientific output may be attributed significant events. Water quality predominates, while sediment studies, particularly high-latitude areas (such Bay), account lowest proportion, possibly due sampling costs challenges. Traditional pollutants, especially heavy metals (HMs) persistent organic pollutants (POPs), primary focus research. The investigation emerging contaminants reveals regional disparities, emphasizing necessity further enhanced regulatory frameworks. study provides evidence governance environments.
