Chitosan-based biomass packaging materials are a promising material for food preservation, but their limited solubility, antioxidant capacity, UV resistance, and mechanical properties severely restrict application. In this study, we developed novel chitosan-based coating/packaging composite (QCTO) using quaternary ammonium salt tannic acid (TA)-modified chitosan (QCS-TA) oxidized (OCS). The introduction of TA effectively improves the water solubility antibacterial, antioxidant, UV-resistant chitosan. Schiff-base bond formed between OCS QCS-TA, along with TA-mediated multiple interactions, conferred prepared film good (69.9 MPa tensile strength) gas barrier performance to (14.3 g·h–1·m–2) oxygen (3.5 g·mm·m–2·h–1). Meanwhile, QCTO composites demonstrate excellent biocompatibility safety applied as coatings strawberries bananas well films mushrooms. These preservation experiments demonstrated that able reduce weight loss, prevent microbial growth, maintain color, significantly prolong shelf life fresh products (bananas, strawberries, mushrooms extended by 6, 5, 6 days, respectively). Therefore, shows great potential applications in field packaging.

In this study, thymol-loaded nanoemulsion (THYNE) was incorporated into a mixture of egg white protein and hyaluronic acid to prepare antibacterial biopolymer coatings. The oil phase the (NE) prepared by mixing different mass ratios thymol corn oil. NE formed using ultrasonic emulsification, physicochemical properties were investigated. When content in 30%, particle size reached minimum 107.93 nm, PDI 0.167, Zeta potential -18.2 mV, it remained kinetically stable after 4 weeks storage at °C. Based on composite coatings containing 5%, 10% 20% THYNE prepared, rheological properties, microstructure, FTIR, release results show that coating solutions exhibited shear thinning behavior.
