Institutional kitchens, such as high school kitchens in developing countries like Ghana, heavily rely on biomass fuel to provide meals for students and staff. This study investigated the levels of Particulate Matter 10 (PM10) 2.5 (PM2.5) 14 biomass-fueled six liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)-fueled within Kumasi metropolis Ghana. Real-time monitoring fine coarse particulate matter was done during an occupational duration eight hours kitchens. The average PM10 LPG-fueled varied from 0.27 – 1.76 mg/m3 0.12 0.24 mg/m3, respectively. Average PM2.5 ranged 0.18 1.25 0.11 0.22 were above World Health Organization's (WHO) daily limits matter. A greater fraction particular measured particles. study's health risk assessment suggested possible non-cancer risks cooks both LPG Expedited action is therefore needed transition similar institutional nations cleaner cookstoves fuels.

Purpose This study aims to identify key factors that affected US respondents’ dining behavior at restaurants during the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach Due lack a prior framework or model test customers’ perceptions dining-out this unprecedented time, used mixed-methods approach, conducting two focus group discussions generate potential restaurant attributes, followed by US-based survey using an online panel. Using structural equation modeling, tested eight developed propositions. Findings The findings indicated three (i.e. environment, communication and hygiene contactless features) made customers feel comfortable in Out these factors, only environment were essential predictors for perceived trust toward restaurant, leading their willingness pay more. moderators, risk support examine how they pay, respectively. Practical implications provides both theoretical practical current body knowledge development operational strategies accommodate changing due To develop holistic conceptual framework, incorporates COVID-19-focused measurement items, moderating roles relationships among five proposed items. operators with insights into altered pandemic prepares them post environment. Originality/value During situation, few are willing dine restaurants. As local national governments lifted mandated protocols, opened business slowly cater compliance centers disease control’s health safety regulations. Purpose This paper investigates the extent to which COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated service innovation in restaurant sector. It explores use of digital technologies (DT) as a safety-empowerment and resilient strategy food-service industry during pandemic. also impact DT on customers' risk perception (CRP) intention go restaurants (CIR) Italy. Design/methodology/approach Based theory planned behaviour perceived theory, this study sample customers residing Multiple regression mediation analyses are conducted test research hypotheses, adapting logic model developed. Using bootstrapping technique, whether moderated relationship among several variables adapted from literature. Robustness tests performed corroborate analysis. Findings The industry's transformation, forcing restauranteurs implement survive. show that support implementing innovative services reduce interactions empower cleanliness workers customers, reducing CRP preserving CIR. Thus, managing is helping sector recover. Practical implications presented for policymakers catalyse transformation small- medium-sized restaurants. results may be beneficial entrepreneurs who can practices order interaction levels. Respiratory disease transmission in indoor environments presents persistent challenges for health authorities, as exemplified by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. This underscores urgent necessity to investigate dynamics of viral infection within environments. systematic review delves into methodologies respiratory settings and explores how quality air (IAQ) can be controlled alleviate this risk while considering imperative sustainability. Among 2722 articles reviewed, 178 were retained based on their focus IAQ. Fifty eight delved SARS-CoV-2 transmission, 21 papers evaluated IAQ contexts other pandemics, 53 assessed during pandemic, 46 examined control strategies mitigate infectious transmission. Furthermore, investigating strategies, only nine considered energy consumption. These findings highlight clear gaps current research, such analyzing surface samples specific environments, oversight outdoor parameters (e.g., temperature, relative humidity (RH), building orientation), neglect occupancy schedules, absence considerations consumption enhancing study distinctly identifies environmental conditions conducive thriving each virus, offering trade-offs dominant viruses at any given time. argues that future research should involve digital twins conjunction with machine learning (ML) techniques. approach aims enhance patterns various
