Conventional plastics exacerbate climate change by generating substantial amounts of greenhouse gases and solid wastes throughout their lifecycle. To address the environmental economic challenges associated with petroleum-based plastics, bioplastics have emerged as a viable alternative. Bioplastics are type plastic that either biobased, biodegradable, or both. Due to biodegradability renewability, established earth-friendly materials can replace nonrenewable plastics. However, early bioplastic development has been hindered higher production costs inferior mechanical barrier properties compared conventional Nevertheless, studies shown addition additives fillers enhance properties. Recent advancements in incorporated special like antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant agents, offering added values unique for specific applications various sectors. PHAs produced from biowaste are an ecological alternative to petroleum-based plastics. Despite their advantageous characteristics, commercialisation is limited because the extraction process still inefficient. This review describes approaches applied PHA-rich biomass recover bio-based products beyond valorisation as bioplastics. The whole PHA-containing microbial cell can be used for animal feed, since boost immune system of fed animals, and direct extrusion allows production biocomposites. After extraction, by-products recovered make high-value such biostimulants, protein hydrolysates, flocculants, adhesives pharmaceutical. PHAs-rich microbes also animals able excrete in faecal pellets, which they easily retrieved. Transforming the plastic industry toward producing more sustainable alternatives than conventional plastics, as an essential enabler of bio-based circular economy (CE), requires reinforcing initiatives to drive solutions from lab market. Consumer acceptance of bioplastics is a sine qua non for transitioning to bioeconomy. This necessitates the elucidation consumer preferences and perceptions effective education on facilitate informed choices. However, these factors have not been studied sufficiently. Therefore, we conducted discrete choice experiment text mining among 12,000 Japanese consumers three products using treatment-control design, where respondents in treatment group learned basic distinctions between bio-based biodegradable plastics. Our study revealed complexity their preferences; were unconditionally preferred, values played critical role this stance. Knowledge tests co-occurrence network analyses confirmed limited comprehension respondents. Their had certain differences similarities with those reported previous European studies. For example, contrary consumers, most did favor use biomass. They preferred sugar cane over other feedstocks, indicating that environmental concerns undervalued.
