The concept of circular economy (CE) has emerged as an effective strategy for addressing resource depletion, waste generation, and environmental challenges, offering a promising path towards more sustainable future. In the building sector, adopting CE principles can significantly mitigate impacts, minimize lifecycle costs, promote sustainability throughout building’s lifecycle. Using mixed-method approach via pre-interview questionnaire semi-structured interviews with 10 experts, this study analyses significance 15 strategies in construction projects, assessing their importance ranking potential adoption. Furthermore, evaluates feasibility applying to different types, including storage, industrial, commercial, residential, business, healthcare facilities. role stages initiation planning, design, procurement, construction, operation maintenance, end life is examined identify phases highest successfully embracing principles. stakeholders driving change also analyzed. outcomes reveal that most feasible include use renewable energy, design durability longevity, prefabrication, offsite construction. findings indicate business (office) buildings are application, while planning identified critical Owners designers emerge greatest influence on implementation. results provide comprehensive overview adoption sector. These offer valuable insights inform development targeted support

Contemporary societies, whether they have reached advanced levels of economic and social development or are still developing, need to prioritise the implementation circular economy practices. This will facilitate shift towards regenerative, sustainable, closed-loop industrial systems. For now, there some efforts encourage patterns production consumption through changes in trends, institutional frameworks, harmonising regulations field environmental protection, raising level awareness achieve, above all, greater efficiency resources. Extensive literature that deals with monitoring already indicates existence numerous barriers this process but also notices incentives for degree circularity observed In paper, question a single value can represent chosen material/product chain is researched. An overview drivers implementing strategies given structure proper metric framework correlation research question. The objective was simplify by developing unique index comparing chains similar accomplished using material use (CMU) rate introduced European Union modifying it financial data calculation. As result, index, which covers all 9R (CEIR), obtained. practical verification model applicability shown determining achieved passenger cars four EU countries.

Abstract The main aim of this article is to analyze the circular economy (CE) transition European countries between 2014 and 2021, using Commission approach production consumption, waste management, secondary raw materials, competitiveness innovation. To do so, we have built a multidimensional Circular Economy Index that classifies according their progress towards economy. We used data from Eurostat database extracted all indicators for EU27 plus Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Iceland. time series starts in ends 2021 15 variables grouped four dimensions by means second order factor analysis with Promax rotation. also applied hierarchical cluster group performance. Our results suggest an improvement performance Europe. likewise find there ‘four‐speed Europe’ terms economy, highlighting good Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium.

The concept of maritime circularity has gained increasing attention to address challenges arising from the net-zero targets industry. circular economy provides potential solutions these through reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling practices. However, industry faces complex challenges, including inefficient reverse supply chains, a lack awareness about principles, standardisation issues, need for digital infrastructure provide vital information in sector. These prevent implementation practices, as access crucial data throughout vessel's life cycle is obstructed. This novel research aims create robust first-of-its-kind database solution specifically designed support industry's shift towards circularity. will facilitate fast transparent flow between stakeholders, providing foundations asset tracking chain. A case study was conducted show that could help extract higher financial value end-of-life ships by over 80%. ageing fleet increases urgency utilising such database, which be pivotal strategy sustainable offers significant benefits all stakeholders allows holistic resource management, influencing operations' sustainability, resilience, profitability.
