Energy is one of the most important aspects urban development and technological advancements. As its production consumption are connected to several environmental, social, economic issues covering all three sustainability pillars, strategic targeted energy planning vital smooth transition towards a more efficient greener society. In accordance with specific priorities every state, sustainable should also satisfy international trends, requirements, targets, including global commitments for development. this time, further deployment renewable efficiency improvement future. Day by day, soaring demand for natural resource devouring and CO2-producing material, cement in the construction industry, poses enormous ecological risk, accelerating requirement of an alternative or supplementary cementitious material (SCM). In contrast, retrieval a massive amount industrial waste needs proper attention to alleviate environmental burden. This research aims utilize three common wastes: recycled concrete dust (RCD), ladle furnace slag (LFS), pyrolysis carbon black (PCB) as SCM cement-based composites, offering sustainable approach towards green atmosphere. The study experimentally compares performance 13 different mortar mixes, substituting ordinary Portland (OPC) with varying weight percentages (0% control, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) each waste. Including chemical composition analysis OPC binders; several physical properties, mechanical particularly compressive strength, flexural capacity, strength at elevated temperatures, activity index (SAI), durability characteristics are performed on afore-mentioned mixes. Moreover, failure pattern, microstructure, presence substances composites examined. investigation also highlights strength-CO2 emission measure economic viability considering processing charges. results satisfy ASTM standard requirements all minimum 75% SAI was achieved cases except 20% replacement level PCB. Compared conventional control mix, 5% RCD blended exhibited 9% higher strength. PCB showed continuing decline reduction up 45% level. Incorporating 10% SCM, improved obtained terms (+7.9%), (+11.7%), 800 °C (+22%), ratio (+15%), economy (+9.1%) while compromising workability (−62.7%) durability.

As a pandemic hotspot in Japan, between March 1, 2020–October 2022, Tokyo metropolis experienced seven COVID-19 waves. Motivated by the high rate of incidence and mortality during seventh wave, environmental/health challenges we conducted time-series analysis to investigate long-term interaction air quality climate variability with viral Tokyo. Through daily time series geospatial observational pollution/climate data, death cases, this study compared environmental conditions multiwaves. In spite five State Emergency (SOEs) restrictions associated pandemic, (2020–2022) period recorded low improvements relative (2015–2019) average annual values, namely: Aerosol Optical Depth increased 9.13% 2020 year, declined 6.64% 2021, 12.03% 2022; particulate matter PM2.5 PM10 decreased 2020, 2022 years 10.22%, 62.26%, 0.39%, respectively 4.42%, 3.95%, 5.76%. For (2021–2022) ratio PM2.5/PM10 was (0.319 ± 0.1640), showing higher contribution aerosol loading traffic-related coarse particles comparison fine particles. The highest rates cases wave (1 July 2022–1 October 2022) may be attributed accumulation near ground levels pollutants pathogens due to: 1) peculiar persistent atmospheric anticyclonic circulation strong positive anomalies geopotential height at 500 hPa; 2) lower Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) heights; 3) maximum temperature land surface prolonged heat waves (HWs) summer 4) no imposed restrictions. Such findings can guide public decision-makers design proper strategies curb pandemics under stable weather HWs large metropolitan areas.

Introduction It is known that the world facing and will face significant sustainability challenges. Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG12), responsible consumption production, one of most relevant SDGs for building Cities. This study based on analysis implementation SDG12 in cities, starting from universities as laboratories or first examples sustainability. Methods The was carried out through a multilevel scale approach. A systematic review literature (global scale) last 5 years (2018–2022) conducted. An program initiatives Higher Education Institution (Tecnologico de Monterrey) presented (local scale). Finally, survey applied to Faculty at this University (micro-scale). Results indicated main themes aspects addressed by higher education institutions were sustainable food, supply chains, community, infrastructure, technology, policies, energy consumption, collaborative economy, smart curricula. local highlighted Distrito Tec project, 37 institutional initiatives, 26 courses directly related SDG12. showed 8% considered important stated goal necessary reduce environmental impacts. As impact Universities can have SDG12, 52% consider should become living labs transition toward followed 36% who think it would be better implement operational facilities. Discussion diverse contributions HEIs three scales classified into six categories: culture, mitigation, adaptation, education, research, outreach. indicates SDG has been achieved different ways, which overlaps widely with performance other SDGs. demonstrate following multistakeholder approach, international collaborations between foster technology-driven multi-disciplinary research projects consolidate cities. ABSTRACT The existing literature widely addresses countries' specific challenges and priorities in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). However, these efforts mostly remain either global‐generalist or local‐narrower scales, containing a big gap for the studies holistically exploring issue through geographic economic scales global manner. Aiming to provide contribution bridging gap, this study presents holistic approach by conducting multi‐scaled content analysis on voluntary national reviews (VNRs) of 188 countries, delivering comparative research global, geographic, their SDGs achievement. prominent findings indicate that groups' are clustered around poverty crises, accounting more than 60%, while leading include education, strong governance, source protection within same range. In all classifications, over 50% countries identify as poverty, climate change, verbalize protection, change. advise policymakers consider prioritize geographical differences analyses. While change is common priority across should focus strategies based governance local needs scale rather an one. For governments, lack data inadequate reporting initiatives vital policymaking international cooperation. These issues necessitate effective monitoring achievement processes adaptation contexts.
