Zeolite was shown to mitigate anaerobic digestion (AD) inhibition caused by several inhibitors such as long-chain fatty acids, ammonia, and phenolic compounds. In this paper, we verified the genericity of zeolite's mitigating effect against other types found in AD salts, antibiotics, pesticides. The impacts zeolite were assessed on performance microbial dynamics. While sodium chloride erythromycin reduced methane production rates 34% 32%, mitigated increased 72% 75%, respectively, compared conditions without presence these two inhibitors. Noticeably, also enhanced rate 51% uninhibited control condition. Microbial community structure analyzed at representative dates corresponding hydrolysis/fermentation methanogenesis stages through 16S rRNA gene sequencing. characteristics further evidenced with common components analysis. Results revealed that inhibited targeting distinct populations, more pronounced inhibitory effects during hydrolysis VFAs degradation phases, respectively. exhibited a generic populations different across all experimental conditions, ultimately contributing mitigation inhibitions. Typically, hydrolytic fermentative bacteria Cellulosilyticum, Sedimentibacter, Clostridium sensu stricto 17, degraders Mesotoga, Syntrophomonas, Syntrophobacter, methanogens including Methanobacterium, Methanoculleus, Methanosarcina strongly favored zeolite.
