The interaction between microplastics (MPs) and pollutants is crucial for assessing the environmental risk of MPs. It necessary to pay attention adsorption/desorption behavior antibiotics on MPs due their potential role in antibiotic resistance. When MPs-loaded are ingested by organisms, they enter gastrointestinal tract undergo desorption, leading corresponding toxic effects. Existing literature primarily focuses adsorption behavior, while there a lack systematic generalizations desorption or combined effects organisms. Therefore, this article provides review mechanisms, biological tract. Desorption suggests that characteristics (aging hydrophobicity) components fluid (digestive enzyme species pH) can also have effect desorption. Moreover, summarizes induced MPs-antibiotics, demonstrating either enhance reduce plants, microorganisms, aquatic animals. Since methodological uniformity relevance natural environment main shortcomings existing literature, future research should focus actual water given region studying at gene, protein, metabolic levels. This direction expected provide valuable references insights evaluating antibiotics.

Microplastics (MPs) are emerging pollutants that constitutes a very serious environmental nuisance and menace to the globe in last decade. The damages from MPs include ecological imbalance of marine environment, flora, fauna these yet be understood African environment. sustainable development goals 14 15 (SDGs #14 #15) seek address challenges combating sustainability terrestrial lives respectively. Understanding pollution dynamics environment is crucial globally particular Africa soon. Hence, it imperative arrest this challenge as swiftly possible before collapse entire biomes. have been detected several matrices; soil, air, aquatic environments, plants, fishes, animals, humans. Their different source routes: ingestion, inhalation, dermal contact contribute an adverse effect (toxicity) all spheres life. To humans, limits their movement, leads shedding scales, inhibits growth, suppresses immune system, causes inflammation, coagulation, also blood cell toxicity among others, on long-run mortality was noted review. There physical, chemical biological transformation microplastics age, leading toxicity, mobility, great interaction. This has contributed high MP intake by fish other animals. For reason, researchers should delve into simpler cheaper ways analyzing its presence develop remediation strategies curb

The increasing accumulation of small plastic particles, in particular microplastics (>1 µm to 5 mm) and nanoplastics (< 1 µm), the environment is a hot topic our rapidly changing world. Recently, studies were initiated better understand behavior micro- (MNP) within complex matrices like soil, as well their characterization, incorporation potential toxicity terrestrial biota. However, there remains significant knowledge gaps understanding wide-extent impacts MNP on invertebrates. We first summarized facts global pollution generation MNP. Then, we focused compiling existing literature examining consequences exposure diversity investigated biological endpoints (from molecular individual levels) compiled get comprehension effects according different factors such shape, polymer type, organism, concentration duration. sublethal are acknowledged literature, yet no general conclusion was drawn highly dependent characteristic experimental design. Finally, synthesis highlighted some research remediation strategies, protocol standardize ecotoxicological studies.

Increasing evidence has suggested that nanoplastic pollution become a global concern. More importantly, transgenerational toxicity can be induced by nanoplastics at predicted environmentally relevant doses (ERDs). Considering amino modification could increase toxicity, we compared neurotoxicity between pristine polystyrene nanoparticle (PS-NP) and amino-modified PS-NP (NH

The widespread use of plastic products in daily life has raised concerns about the health hazards associated with nanoplastics (NPs). When exposed, NPs are likely to infiltrate bloodstream, interact plasma proteins, and trigger macrophage recognition clearance. In this study, we focused on establishing a correlation between unique protein coronal signatures high-density (HDPE) low-density (LDPE) polyethylene (PE) their ultimate impact cytotoxicity. We observed that lipoprotein receptors (LDLR SR-B1), facilitated by apolipoproteins, played an essential role PE-NP recognition. Consequently, PE-NPs activated caspase-3/GSDME pathway ultimately led pyroptosis. Advanced imaging techniques, including label-free scattered light confocal cryo-soft X-ray transmission microscopy 3D-tomographic reconstruction (nano-CT), provided powerful insights into visualizing NPs–cell interactions. These findings underscore potential risks macrophages introduce analytical methods for studying behavior biological systems.
