There is a well-established link between physical activity and brain health. As such, the effectiveness of exercise as therapeutic strategy has been explored in variety neurological contexts. To determine extent to which could be most beneficial under different circumstances, studies are needed uncover underlying mechanisms behind benefits activity. Interest grown understanding how can regulate microglia, resident immune cells central nervous system. Microglia key mediators neuroinflammatory processes play role maintaining homeostasis healthy pathological settings. Here, we explore evidence suggesting that potential microglia various animal models. We emphasize areas where future research contribute uncovering engaging exercise.

Background Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia globally, placing a substantial economic burden on patients and society. Exercise serves as an adjuvant therapy for AD with low incidence related adverse events. As non-pharmacological intervention, it has demonstrated significant potential in AD. Objective This study examines key hotspots emerging trends exercise AD, offering valuable insights researchers engaged future research this field. Methods The Web Science Core Collection database was utilized to search literature from January 1, 2000, November 2024, 1,372 relevant articles being identified. And CiteSpace 6.2.R4 VOSviewer were used evaluate bibliometric indicators. Results Since number publications field been increasing. In addition well-known areas research, such impact cognitive function, combination medication therapy, effects specific symptoms, music may also focus more novel topics. These include integration design implementation interventions, dendritic spines, neurophysiological mechanisms. Furthermore, analysis keywords reveals that current main direction exploring physiological mechanisms through which affects includes three trends: impairment patients, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) Amyloid beta, influence Stress neuroinflammation. Conclusion results indicate interventions using alleviate negative symptoms well combining are gaining increasing attention researchers. Meanwhile, topics should attract scholarly interest. Additionally, behind could be research.
