Purpose This study aims to examine the efforts of two universities in Taiwan, particularly their engagement coastal rural communities, and provides insights into substantial contributions University Social Responsibility (USR) projects toward achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) settings. The objective this research is analyze outcomes these case on SDGs and, consequently, propose a theoretical model aimed at enhancing student participation through USR programs. This study evaluates the results of Taiwan's offshore and coastal fishery policy, pinpoints challenges faced during its implementation, provides recommendations for future policies. The research employed outcome evaluation key performance indicators stakeholder interviews as methodologies. We observed a potential stagnation in progress policies over this decade. Following a design-based research methodology, this investigation develops pedagogical model to foster ocean citizenship through the application of design cycle consisting four phases: (1) preliminary research, (2) planning, (3) action and (4) evaluation. This article presents results phases 1 2, which define conceptual foundation model, planning actions for its implementation in school environment. The was established by drawing upon theoretical principles systemic/complex approach education, along with theoretical-methodological elements compiled from literature field literacy citizenship. Strategic intentions of higher education for sustainable development goals: Qualitative evidence from universities in Türkiye DOI Creative Commons

Abstract Although the literature on role of higher education in sustainable development is extensive, a notable gap remains universities' intentions to contribute Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contexts they pay attention to, and measurement tools use different country samples. Aiming this with sample Türkiye, minimal progress SDG reporting, study conducts three‐tiered content analysis 121 state strategic plans. The prominent results show that universities prioritize SDGs 8, 16, 9, 11, 4, 40% or proportions. Besides, there exists lack targets set by any for 1, 10, 12, 14, 17. While most sustainability institutional societal aspects, 45% proportions, environmental concerns are determined be low, high diversity among 12 types, all 30% lower present supportive evidence from Türkiye existing literature, particularly Western countries' prioritization, thus, insight similarities differences prioritization countries samples emerge geographical regional affinities rather than educational levels. Finally, need promote foster reporting initiatives make contributions more systematic consistent appears critical managerial implication Turkish education.
