The human-nature connection should be a key component in the design of supportive and comfortable indoor environments. An interest introducing Nature Based Solutions via Biophilic Design (BD) intervention recently emerged. Related benefits for work efficiency have been identified lab-studies without possibility to perform preliminary assessments. Recently, VR has adopted thanks its advantages data collection highly realistic To date, most research on BD focused visual with nature even if people experience multiple senses simultaneously. In this paper, new approach assessment is presented. A 3x3 between-subjects study presented, comparing three office layouts (Indoor Green, Outdoor Green Non-Biophilic) acoustic scenarios (Office, Office + Traffic Nature). 198 participants performed one test session completing cognitive tasks each condition, survey. results sense presence immersivity (visual), sensory congruency (acoustic) cybersickness disorders suggested that an effective tool evaluate potential interventions (ecological validity). findings tests revealed audio-visual can positively influence working memory, inhibition task-switching performance. factor exhibited higher improvement effect compared factor, between 23 % 71 against 12 %–39 %. Moreover, Natural sound Indoor condition was visual*acoustic while Non-Biophilic environment disruptive one.

The world is struggling to limit greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the human footprint on nature. We therefore urgently need think about how achieve more with actions address mounting challenges for health wellbeing from biodiversity loss, climate change effects, unsustainable economic social development. Nature-based Solutions (NBS) have emerged as a systemic approach an important component of response these challenges. In marine coastal spaces, NBS can contribute improved environmental health, mitigation adaptation, sustainable blue economy, if implemented high standard. However, been largely studied terrestrial – particularly urban systems, limited uptake thus far in areas, despite abundance opportunities. Here, we provide explanations this lag propose following three research priorities advance NBS: (1) Improve understanding biodiversity-ecosystem services relationships support better designed rebuilding system resilience achieving desired ecological outcomes under change; (2) Provide scientific guidance where implement coordinate strategies projects facilitate their design, effectiveness, value through innovative synergistic actions; (3) Develop ways enhance communication, collaboration, ocean literacy stewardship raise awareness, co-create solutions stakeholders, boost public policy buy-in, potentially drive sustained investment. Research effort areas will help practitioners, policy-makers society embrace managing ecosystems tangible benefits people life.

In this study, we utilized the choice experiment (CE) method to evaluate effectiveness of different solid waste management (SWM) programs in promoting adaptive capacity toward carbon reduction. We investigated three hypothetical scenarios for SWM programs, including warriors program, credits reduction, and carbon-trade program. Our analysis unveiled distinct preferences among citizen groups regarding programs. Incorporating nature-based solutions (NbS) within study further enhances our understanding relationship between SWM. NbS approaches leverage natural processes ecosystems address environmental challenges, climate impacts. By engaging citizens comparing options impacts, fosters a greater efficacy approaches. Citizen participation plays crucial role identifying novel innovative that effectively mitigate This collaborative involvement facilitates knowledge exchange, empowers communities, strengthens capacity. The findings offer valuable insights into practices, policy development, decision-making processes. prioritizing align with incorporating principles, can develop more effective strategies

The concept of nature-based solutions (NbS) has been endorsed by multiple international organizations as one the priority approaches to address climate-related challenges. These are versatile, and can simultaneously challenges such climate impacts, public health, inequality, biodiversity crisis, being uniquely suited for urban adaptation. NbS particularly relevant in developing world, where strategies should be self-reliant possible, reducing need technological processes that require expensive complex maintenance. also promote political, societal, cultural, ultimately, systems change. purpose this paper is present a literature review on use adaptation, identifying main opportunities, challenges, and, most specifically, knowledge gaps, which addressed subsequent research. identifies four types gaps adaptation: future uncertainty, lack site-specific technical design criteria, governance strategies, effectiveness assessment evaluation. To overcome local governments’ limitations, specific implementation structures considered, centered transfer within transdisciplinary participatory framework. developed partnership with planning entities, seeking consolidate these policies support social resilience institutional capacity.
