As environmental concerns drive a shift toward sustainable protein sources, insects have emerged as promising alternative to conventional animal proteins. House crickets (Acheta domestica) are particularly notable for their high content and minimal ecological impact. However, the development of cricket peptide products faces key challenge in enhancing sensory properties consumer acceptance. This study compared effects two enzymes - papain alkaline protease on quality peptides, focusing yield, degree hydrolysis, attributes. Although protease-derived provided higher papain-derived demonstrated superior foaming capacity, lower bitterness, overall Subsequently, was combined with natural sweeteners herbal ingredients formulate beverage. Three recipes were evaluated ability mask undesirable flavors, recipe containing monk fruit, chrysanthemum, lemongrass, achieving highest highlights potential peptides source functional beverages underscores importance careful enzyme selection flavor formulation developing consumer-friendly products.

Aging is a natural and irreversible process, affecting living organisms by negatively impacting the tissues' cells' morphology functionality consequently being responsible for aging-related diseases. Taking into account actual preoccupations of both consumers researchers, healthy anti-aging alternatives are intensively studied in order to address such concerns. Due their functional features, plant flavonoids can be considered valuable nutraceuticals. This paper highlights possibilities use extracted from various plants potential on skin, brain, heart. Moreover, anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic properties summarized, along with senescence-associated mechanisms. Both nutraceutical cosmeceutical fields continuously developing originating promising candidates obtain products. Thus, bioactive compounds' extraction subsequent involvement innovative product manufacturing must carefully performed while aware intrinsic extrinsic factors that may affect phytochemicals' structures, bioavailability, health effects.

ABSTRACT The khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) is a notorious pest causing significant damage to stored grains, leading substantial economic losses globally. This study investigates the insecticidal efficacy of methanolic extracts derived from two indigenous plants, Cannabis sativa and Cymbopogon citratus, alongside entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana Metarhizium anisopliae, against T. granarium. assesses mortality rates, weight loss in infected wheat seeds, adult emergence. Results revealed that higher concentrations extended exposure periods all significantly increased rates while simultaneously reducing seed C. at 25mg/mL achieved highest rate 78.92% ± 5% after 72 hours, with citratus showing 60.52% 2.43% under similar conditions. fungi extracts, particularly 108 spores/mL, demonstrated efficacy, B. M. anisopliae emergence 42.11% 1.92% 41.17% 1.92%, respectively. These findings highlight potential these as effective biopesticides for managing granarium infestations offering natural alternative chemical pesticides.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) has emerged as a noteworthy contender in traditional medicine for its aromatic and therapeutic attributes, yet potential an antidiabetic agent remains largely unexplored the literature. To address this gap, study endeavors to provide comprehensive overview of lemongrass role diabetes management underlying pathways involved. Rich bioactive compounds such citral, flavonoids, essential oils, boasts diverse array medicinal properties. Research indicates capability modulate blood glucose levels, improve insulin sensitivity, fortify pancreatic β-cell function primarily through antioxidant anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Animal studies have demonstrated substantial reductions fasting enhanced tolerance, ascribed heightened signaling inhibition carbohydrate metabolism enzymes. Additionally, exhibits positive impact on lipid profiles, thereby mitigating cardiovascular risks associated with diabetes. Limited human trials corroborated these findings, showcasing improvements glycemic control following consumption. In conclusion, emerges promising adjunctive therapy management, owing natural composition multifaceted Nonetheless, further investigation, particularly rigorous clinical trials, is imperative determine optimal dosages, long-term safety, efficacy, facilitating seamless integration into conventional treatment protocols.

The present study investigated the volatile constituents of Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass) grown in a greenhouse environment Serbia, marking first commercial cultivation plant for essential oil production region. oils and hydrolates obtained through steam distillation were analyzed via gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS), resulting chemical data further processed using chemometric methods. This applied quantitative structure retention relationship (QSRR) analysis, employing molecular descriptors (MDs) artificial neural networks (ANNs) to predict indices (RIs) compounds. A genetic algorithm (GA) was used select most relevant MDs this predictive modeling. total 29 compounds annotated oils, with geranial neral being dominant components, while 37 detected hydrolates. ANN models effectively predicted RIs both hydrolates, demonstrating high statistical accuracy low prediction errors. research offers valuable insights into profile lemongrass cultivated temperate conditions advances QSRR modeling analysis.
