Energy system modelling may support policymakers in their energy planning efforts. modellers usually identify the optimal configuration based on an economic objective function, or multi-objective optimization, a combination of multiple objectives such as greenhouse gas emissions and total cost. However, there could be political, socio-economic, environmental reasons justifying policymaker's selection solution that is slightly more costly polluting than uniquely solution. Energy system models (ESMs) are essential for planning the energy transition and understanding its impacts. However, this is inherently complex cannot always be understood by using just one model. This paper investigates the impact of applying optimisation and simulation approaches for energy system modelling scenario design in a municipal context. Several developing nations lack access to energy perform daily activities. Therefore, effective planning is essential for addressing nations' pressing challenges, including security, economic competitiveness, and climate change mitigation. This study presents a systematic literature review of various modeling tools, specifically focusing on their significance in shaping the landscape Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries. The Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-analysis (PRISMA) approach was adopted this review. A search conducted using flowchart list items selected articles were critically reviewed. has presented descriptive analysis research based yearly publications, journals, publishers, countries, prevalent tools employed scholarly work. Also, highlighted current understanding data requirements, applications context findings show that (EMTs) are important decision-making policy formulation processes, particularly analyzing demand supply pathways reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This article discusses the integration of renewable energy sources in islanded systems, focusing on electrification transport sector and highlighting challenges that are faced. The proposed method comprises different steps. First, system is analyzed using Smart Energy Systems concept to identify high scenarios.
