There has been a progressive global increase in the usage of electric vehicles this dispensation. This is mostly due to need decarbonise transport sector and mitigate concerns climate change depleting oil reserves which South Africa not an exception. In fact, country with highest CO2 emissions can reduce its carbon footprint by embracing green mobility. Compared internal combustion engine (ICE) market, vehicle (EV) market still early stages, limited local production since introduction country’s automotive 2013. Therefore, study, EVs Africa, along adoption rates challenges were carried out make stronger case that would offer better pathway for increased EV country. It discovered slow rate factors such as procurement, ownership costs, parts, safety issues, battery technology, tax import duties, load shedding, availability charging stations. paper also provides insights into government policies, funding, other efforts support through analyses primary secondary data. The proposed strategies include rebates on imported EVs, their retrofitting ICE science-informed transition from vehicles. Furthermore, more renewable energy grid integration energy-powered stations provide required power even during shedding. Preliminary findings survey suggest components government-sponsored training programmes various skills are crucial increasing

The electric vehicle (EV) revolution is sweeping the world, and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) no exception. Despite environmental sustainability narratives surrounding EVs, it now undeniable that transition to mobility inevitable. Over last couple of years, region has made considerable advancements in transitioning towards transportation, with government private sector collaborating make EVs more accessible public. progress made, still lowest rate globally. Moreover, available information limited identifying critical challenges require attention ensure a reasonable decarbonization passenger transport region. This review focuses on current advancements, challenges, opportunities EV development SSA puts forward ways hasten its faces significant need be addressed. Particularly, absence clear policies regulations outline targets for individual countries, high purchase price poor electricity networks, scarcity public e-charging stations are primary impediments obstruct SSA. To expedite transition, highly recommended formulate new regional national strategies rather than adopting developed nations' model blueprint.

Simulation is a cornerstone of planning and facilitating the transition towards electric mobility in sub-Saharan Africa’s informal public transport. The primary objective this study to validate refine electro-kinetic model used simulate versions sector’s minibuses. A systematic simulation methodology also developed correct parameters improve high-frequency GPS data with model. retrofitted minibus was capture power draw from battery. method incorporates key refinements such as corrections for gross vehicle mass, elevation speed smoothing, radial drag, hill-climb forces, calibration propulsion regenerative braking parameters. refined demonstrates improved alignment measured trip energy usage, reducing error margins enhancing reliability. Factors characteristics environmental conditions, including wind resistance, are identified potential contributors observed discrepancies. These findings highlight importance precise handling accurate decision making This work provides robust framework future studies practical implementations, offering insights into technical operational challenges electrifying transport systems resource-constrained regions.

This article explores a strategy to empower vulnerable communities by transferring solar technology as path energy justice development. The proposed methodology is based on preliminary research uses according the needs, practices, and customs of communities. study focuses cases three women with productive vocations entrepreneurship in different phases incubation found peri-urban community central Mexico. In this community, include a) development value-added products for retail b) electrical implementation machinery, lighting, security. Therefore, was designed implemented that combined social technical interventions empowerment. intervention included focus groups semi-structured interviews. contrast, evaluated viability technologies considering available irradiation, consumption, cost monthly electricity rate. results revealed each woman's prior knowledge about renewable energy, their concerns, importance energy. allowed develop strategic business plan ventures, highlighting benefits document emphasizes adapting specific activities needs communities, well analysis region, including economic activities, home occupations, transportation, rest time.
