Antimony (Sb) is known for its severe and extensive toxicity, earthworms are considered important indicator organisms in soil ecosystems. Therefore, the present study investigated mechanism of toxicity Sb at different concentrations (50, 200 mg/kg) on using biochemical indicators, pathological sections, as well metabolomics transcriptomics analyses. The results showed that exposure concentration increased, both antioxidant system earthworms, extent intestinal damage, their metabolomic characteristics were significantly enhanced. In 50 mg/kg treatment group, 30 177 significant differentially changed metabolites (DCMs) identified, respectively, with most DCMs being down- up-regulated, respectively. Metabolomics analysis contents dl-tryptophan, glutamic acid, glycine, isoleucine, l-methionine, involved protein digestion absorption aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis up-regulated under treatment. At transcriptional level, mainly affected immune system, nervous amino acid metabolism, endocrine carbohydrate metabolism earthworms. integration transcriptomic data indicated high doses regulated genes related to oxidative phosphorylation pathway Overall, these revealed global responses beyond scope conventional endpoints facilitated a more in-depth comprehensive assessment toxic effects Sb.
