Microplastics (MPs) have been detected in all environmental locations, including the atmosphere. However, few studies investigated presence of airborne MPs human respiratory system. Our research purpose was to investigate these pollutants lower airways 44 adult European citizens, using bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) collection as a minimally invasive method, that enables detection living patients. We studied relationship between patients' life habits and physiological parameters, based on background information medical occupational history, concentration isolated from their systems. results indicate most were form microfibers (MFs) (97.06%), with an average 9.18 ± 2.45 items/100 mL BALF, only 5.88% (0.57 0.27 BALF) particulate MPs, without significant environmental, physiological, or clinical factors. The size 1.73 0.15 mm, longest dimension (9.96 mm) corresponding polyacrylic fiber. Taken together, demonstrated occurrence airway, although more are necessary elucidate negative effects could induce system its associated diseases.

Abstract As an emerging pollutant in the life cycle of plastic products, micro/nanoplastics (M/NPs) are increasingly being released into natural environment. Substantial concerns have been raised regarding environmental and health impacts M/NPs. Although diverse M/NPs detected environment, most them display two similar features, i.e.,high surface area strong binding affinity, which enable extensive interactions between surrounding substances. This results formation coronas, including eco-coronas bio-coronas, on different media. In real exposure scenarios, corona is inevitable often displays variable complex structures. The coronas found to impact transportation, uptake, distribution, biotransformation toxicity particulates. Different from conventional toxins, packages rather than bare particles more dangerous. We, therefore, recommend seriously consideration role safety assessments. review summarizes recent progress eco–coronas bio-coronas M/NPs, further discusses analytical methods interpret structures, highlights provides future perspectives.

Plastics are commonly used for packaging in the food industry. The most popular thermoplastic materials that have found such applications polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), and polystyrene (PS). Unfortunately, plastic is disposable. As a consequence, significant amounts of waste generated, entering environment, undergoing degradation processes. They can occur under influence mechanical forces, temperature, light, chemical, biological factors. These factors present synergistic or antagonistic effects. result their action, microplastics formed, which undergo further fragmentation decomposition into small-molecule compounds. During process, various additives at plastics' processing stage also be released. Both negatively affect human animal health. Determination negative consequences on environment health not possible without knowing course processes products. In this article, we sources microplastics, causes places formation, transport particles, plastics often production storage, affecting said its

Plastics are persistent and pervasive throughout the environment have now been reported from deepest parts of ocean to tops highest most remote mountains. There is a body information on sources, degradation, transport plastics as well variety research investigating ecotoxicological wider ecological consequences plastic ingestion accumulation. Such knowledge has obtained with developments in field laboratory methods for identification then well-publicized media public communications. However, although there large focus pollution within past decade, plenty that we do not yet know. This review highlights some recent (past years) including investigations accumulation, distribution, impacts, provides directions future work.
