Biochar is frequently utilized as a helpful amendment to sustain agricultural productivity. However, it remains uncertain whether biochar can effectively replace chemical fertilizers, especially in karst regions. To investigate the effects of co-applying and fertilizer on biological characteristics uptake pod peppers, well determine optimal ratio two-year field experiment was conducted southwest China. The results showed that, compared locally typical treatment (CF), combined application significantly increased yield both fresh dry pepper. Chemical reduction also ameliorated fruit quality, nutrient accumulation, improved utilization efficiency. What more, although employment made production costs higher, fertilizers increase economic efficiency, CF70B (70%CF + biochar). In conclusion, moderate amounts instead may be valid management strategy for pepper mountain areas, which beneficial maintaining stability, improving increasing net income.

Municipal sludge is rich in nutrients and microbial populations, making it a potential soil amendment to enhance fertility. This study aimed investigate the impact of municipal application on populations assess its suitability as fertilizer. The results indicated significant increase organic matter content sandy after (from 9.57 23.62 mg·kg−1). Available potassium phosphorus levels improved from poor intermediate, available nitrogen reached an excellent level. Plant parameters such wet weight, diameter, root length, aboveground height also showed improvement with addition. High-throughput sequencing revealed Shannon Simpson indices exceeding 5.26 0.98, respectively, across all substrates except B1, indicating enhanced community structure diversity soil. Redundancy analysis highlighted pivotal role total phosphorus, matter, nitrogen, enriching abundance diversity. In conclusion, using fertilizer feasible beneficial for safety, fertility, enhancement.

Organic fertilizers, such as spent mushroom substrate (SMS), improve soil fertility, but studies comparing their effects on different agricultural soils are limited. In this study, the of standard, SMS and composed fertilizers from conventional-integrated, organic biodynamic farming were investigated. Soil samples analyzed for microorganisms activity β-glucosidase (β-GLU), β-1,4-N-acetylglucosaminidase (NAG), urease (URE), arylamidase (ARN), phosphatase (PHOS), acid (PAC), alkaline (PAH) arylsulphatase (ARS). Biodynamic showed highest microbial counts enzyme activities, followed by conventional soils. significantly increased number especially in Seasonal variations affected all most enzymes soils, except NAG stable throughout year, indicating greater stability. This study concludes that activities respond differently to fertilization depending type, with demonstrating beneficial tested

This study reveals how microbial diversity relates to soil properties in Auricularia heimuer residue–chicken manure composting, presenting sustainable waste recycling solutions. These microbial-straw strategies are adaptable various agroecological regions, offering flexible residue valorization approaches for local conditions, crops, and resources. examined the effects of composting chicken at three ratios (6:4, 7:3, 8:2) on properties, lignocellulose content, enzyme activity, diversity, maize growth. The compost was mixed into potting different proportions (0:10 10:0). During temperature remained above 50 °C more than 14 days, meeting safety sanitation requirements. process resulted a pH range 7–8, stable moisture content 60%, color change from brown gray-brown, elimination unpleasant odors, formation loose aggregates. Lignocellulose steadily decreased, while lignocellulosic activity actinomycete abundance increased, indicating suitability field application. Compared with control (CK), total nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium increased by 57.81–77.91%, 4.5–19.28%, 301.09–577.2%, respectively. Abstract BACKGROUND Spent mushrooms substrate is the most important waste generated by edible industry and can be re‐used as organic fertilizer, following sustainable production principles. In present study, Pleurotus (SPS) was used for fertilization of baby leaf during two consecutive cycles (1st: October to December; 2nd: December March) using variety lettuce (Doge Imperiale). Different amounts SPS in a mix with chemical fertilizers were applied: 100% fulfil N needs crop 50% mineral (T100 + 50), 200% double (T200) (T200 50). treatments compared an unfertilized control (T0) treatments. The crops coverage, Soil Plant Analysis Development index (i.e. SPAD) yield monitored each cycle soil samples analysed observe effect on fertility. RESULTS Among treatments, T100 50, which combined SPS, yielded best productive results among This combination improved nutrient availability, whereas higher concentrations (T200, T200 50) reduced yields due nitrogen immobilization. high initial content limited significant changes nitrogen, but matter, active carbon enzyme activity, enhancing microbial activity. varieties difference uptake utilization observed. CONCLUSION Overall, study highlights potential raw fertilizer cultivation. Incorporating alongside half crop's requirement offers promising alternative conventional fertilization. After just cycles, this approach maintains good at same time matter enzymatic ultimately improving © 2025 Author(s).
