In this study, a typical coastal economic development zone in eastern China is taken as the research area. The water quality park exceeds standard seriously case of insufficient sewage treatment capacity, and pollution degree tends to be heavier closer estuary. According distance from estuary, that is, difference quality, study area can divided into zones with significant differences microbial community characteristics. Fluoride, main pollutants area, most important environment factor changes. stability ecosystem decreased increase photovoltaic pollution. model simulation results, amount entering river greatly reduced by setting new plant, seagoing rivers meet requirements function zone.

Microplastics (MPs) pollution and dissolved organic matter (DOM) affect soil quality functions. However, the effect of MPs on DOM underlying mechanisms have not been clarified, which poses a challenge to maintaining health. Under environmentally relevant conditions, we evaluated major role polypropylene particles at four micron-level sizes (20, 200, 500 μm mixed) in regulating changes content. We found that an increase aeration by medium high-intensity (>0.5%) may reduce NH4+ leaching accelerating nitrification. positive nutrient retention through adsorption PO43- (13.30-34.46%) (9.03-19.65%) their leached carbon (MP-leached carbon, MP-DOC), thereby dynamic balance nutrients. The ion (Ca2+) is also important competitor MP-DOM system, its intensity are dynamically involved process. These findings can help predict response processes, especially cycling, persistent anthropogenic stressors, improve risk management policies MPs, facilitate protection health function, future agricultural contexts.

Mangroves, as the key blue carbon ecosystem, are considered ‘potential sinks’ for microplastics (MPs) in land-ocean interface zones. However, there is limited understanding of enrichment patterns MPs mangrove particularly relation to human activities. This study explored abundance, composition, and diversity non-mangrove sediments Zhanjiang Bay (ZJB) investigate effects activities on system. The results showed that were widely prevalent all sediment samples, abundance was significantly higher than ( P < 0.05). Furthermore, average found be 263.67 ± 85.25 items/kg whereas it 618.17 71.75 items/kg. mangroves about 1.6 times non-mangroves, indicating have an interception effect MPs, factor leading difference between non-mangroves. predominant shapes both non-mangroves fragments, with multicolor green being most common colors sizes ranging 100 330 µm. Besides, no significant relationship particulate organic > 0.05), pollution didn’t alter natural POC pool ZJB. Overall, this provided important baseline information ecosystems ZJB, which implications future mitigation management ecosystem.

Seagrass meadows are one of the world's most diverse ecosystems offering habitats for an extensive array species, as well serving protectors coral reefs and vital carbon sinks. Furthermore, they modify hydrodynamics by diminishing water flow velocities enhancing sediment deposition, indicating potential microplastic accumulation in their sediments. The build-up microplastics could potentially have ecological impacts threatening to ecosystems, however little is known about abundance controlling factors seagrass Here we investigated characteristics abundances within sediments underlying four meadow sites on Turneffe Atoll, Belize. Sediment cores were collected sub-sampled include a range replicate surface (0-4 cm) depth (sediment depths 0-2, 2-5, 5-10, 10-20 20-30 cm). These analysed using 25 μm resolution μFTIR, with spectral maps processed siMPle software. Microplastics prevalent across (limit detection (LOD) blank-corrected) < LOD 17137 kg
