Three fungal taxa were collected on dead branches of wood during fieldwork in Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces, China. The new generic name Brunneosporopsis gen. nov. species B. yunnanensis sp. are introduced for a novel taxon characterized by globose to subglobose dark olivacous-brown conidia. Phylogenetic analyses based combined LSU, SSU tef1-α loci strongly support the monophyly this place it subclass Diaporthomycetidae. It could not be assigned any currently recognized families was, therefore, placed Diaporthomycetidae genera incertae sedis. A second represents Allocryptovalsa an analysis sequence datasets ITS btub novel, brown-spored sexual morphic species. This is described here as A. xishuangbanica An interesting hypocrealean fungus producing synnemata, Stilbocrea gracilipes, was from unknown host Province reported here, with asexual morph both culture well ITS, tef1-α, rpb2 rpb1 data.

During a mycological survey of the Democratic Republic Congo, fungal specimen that morphologically resembled American species Hypoxylonpapillatum was encountered. A polyphasic approach including morphological and chemotaxonomic together with multigene phylogenetic study (ITS, LSU, tub2, rpb2) Hypoxylon spp. representatives related genera revealed this strain represents new Hypoxylaceae. However, multi-locus inference indicated fungus clustered H.papillatum in separate clade from other Hypoxylon. Studies by ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography coupled to diode array detection ion mobility tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-DAD-IM-MS/MS) were carried out on stromatal extracts. In particular, MS/MS spectra major metabolites these production hitherto unreported azaphilone pigments similar core scaffold cohaerin-type metabolites, which are exclusively found Based results, genus Parahypoxylon is introduced herein. Aside P.papillatum, also includes P.ruwenzoriensesp. nov., type within basal Hypoxylaceae its sister Durotheca.

Pigments of fungal origin have aroused increasing interest in the food dye and cosmetic industries since global demand for natural dyes has grown. Endophytic microorganisms are a source bioactive compounds, Amazonian plant species can harbor fungi with wide range biotechnological applications. Popularly known Brazil as crajiru, Fridericia chica is medicinal that produces red pigment. In this study, total 121 were isolated potato dextrose agar from three plants. We identified nine pigment-producing endophytic branches leaves F. chica. The isolates showed pigment production solid media molecularly via multilocus analysis Aspergillus welwitschiae, A. sydowii, Curvularia sp., Diaporthe cerradensis (two strains), Hypoxylon investiens, Neoscytalidium sp. strains) Penicillium rubens. Fungi and their natural products, like secondary metabolites, have gained a huge demand in the last decade due to increasing applications healthcare, environmental cleanup, biotechnology-based industries. The fungi produce these metabolites (SMs) during different phases of growth, which are categorized into terpenoids, alkaloids, polyketides, non-ribosomal peptides. These SMs exhibit significant biological activity, contributes formulation novel pharmaceuticals, biopesticides, bioremediation agents. Abstract Ascomycetes belonging to the order Sordariales are a well-known reservoir of secondary metabolites with potential beneficial applications. Species ubiquitous, and they commonly found in soils lignicolous, herbicolous, coprophilous habitats. Some their species have been used as model organisms modern fungal biology or were be prolific producers potentially useful metabolites. However, majority sordarialean poorly studied. Traditionally, classification has mainly based on morphology ascomata, ascospores, asexual states, characters that demonstrated homoplastic by taxonomic studies multi-locus phylogeny. Herein, we summarize for first time relevant information about available knowledge biological activities exerted representatives this order, well current outlook opportunities recent advances omic tools could bring discovery order.
