The presence of microplastics (MPs) in human fluids and organs is a great concern, since, as highlighted by recent studies on animal models, they could cause alterations several physiological functions, including reproduction. In this study, semen samples collected from men living polluted area the Campania Region (Southern Italy), were analyzed to assess MPs. N. 16 pigmented microplastic fragments (ranging 2 6 μm size) with spheric or irregular shapes found six out ten samples. The increasing global attention on micro(nano)plastics (MNPs) is a result of their ubiquity in the water, air, soil, and biosphere, exposing humans to MNPs daily basis threatening human health. Abstract The limited available data on human internal exposure poses a significant challenge in assessing the risks associated with micro and nanoplastics (MNPs) to health. A contributing factor this is scarcity of sensitive analytical methods quantify mass concentration plastic polymers blood. In study we present an improved validated method for quantitatively analysing polyethylene (PE), terephthalate (PET), poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), polypropylene, polystyrene whole blood samples. We introduce apply stringent quality assurance control procedures, including validation using samples continuous monitoring batch analyses ensure reliability. Expanding upon prior pioneering work by Leslie et al. (2022), optimised pyrolysis-gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (Py-GC-MS) conditions enhance sensitivity selectivity. Microplastics (MPs) are plastic particles (<5 mm) ubiquitous in water, soil, and air, indicating that humans can be exposed to MPs through ingestion of water food, inhalation.This review provides an overview the current human biomonitoring data available evaluate exposure health impact MPs.We compiled 91 relevant studies on matrices toxicological endpoints provide evidence distribution different tissues implications this have from a perspective.Human has been corroborated by detection biological samples including blood, urine, stool, lung tissue, breast milk, semen placenta.
