The
implementation
of
recycling
techniques
represents
a
potential
solution
to
the
plastic
pollution
issue.
To
date,
only
limited
number
polymers
can
be
efficiently
recycled.
In
Italian
waste
stream,
residual,
non-homogeneous
fraction
is

‘Plasmix’
and
intended
for
low-value
uses.
However,
Plasmix

through

recycling,

Plastic
waste
discarded

aquatic
environments

microplastics
(MPs),
which
range
in
size
from
0.05
to
5
mm.
The
ubiquity
of
MPs
poses
a
significant
threat
ecosystems
and,
by
extension,
human
health,
these
particles
are
ingested
various
marine
organisms
including
zooplankton,
crustaceans,
and
fish,
eventually
entering
the
food
chain.
This
contamination
threatens
entire
ecological
balance,
encompassing
safety
health
systems.
Consequently,
developing
effective
MP
removal
technologies
has
emerged
critical
area
research.
Here,
we
summarize
mechanisms
recently
reported
strategies
for
removing
ecosystems.
Strategies
combining
physical
chemical
pretreatments
with
microbial
degradation
have
shown
promise
decomposing
MPs.
Microorganisms
such
bacteria,
fungi,
algae,
specific
enzymes
being
leveraged
remediation
efforts.
Recent
advancements
focused
on
innovative
methods
membrane
bioreactors,
synthetic
biology,
organosilane-based
techniques,
biofilm-mediated
remediation,
nanomaterial-enabled
strategies,
nano-enabled
demonstrating
substantial
potential
enhance
efficiency.

Microplastics
are
widely
present
worldwide
and

great
concern
to
scientists

Microplastics
(MPs)
are
now
ubiquitous
environmental
contaminants
that
lead
to
unavoidable
human
exposure;
they
have
received
increasing
attention
in
recent
years
and
become
an
emerging
area
of
research.
The
greatest
concern
is
the
negative
impacts
MPs
on
marine,
fresh-water,
terrestrial
ecosystems,
as
well
health,
extent
World
Health
Organization
(WHO)
calls
for
increased
research
standardized
methods
assess
exposure
MPs.
Many
countries
international
organizations
implementing
or
proposing
legislation
this
regard.
This
review
aims
summarize
current
state
legislation,
indoor
outdoor
contamination,
potential
health
risk
due
airborne
MPs,
considering
occupational
also
becoming
a
growing
concern.
Even
though
regarding
has
continuously
last
twenty
years,
effects
been
scarcely
investigated,
toxicity
studies
still
limited
not
directly
comparable,
