The auto parts industry occupies an important strategic position in our national economy, which brings about the pollution problem processing of parts, particularly soil polluted by heavy metals. Soil samples were collected from automobile company Jiaxing, China, and data evaluated using land accumulation index method. study found that metal downwind direction Automobile Parts Co., Ltd. is mainly As, CD, Zn mixed pollution, distribution uneven. coefficient variation As was largest, regional amplitude large. Cr, Ni 50%, 39.38%, PB lowest. accumulative AS CD 6, a very serious level. content 1994.7 mg/kg, exceeding standard more than 44 times, level 3, belongs to moderate degree metals decreases as distance outlet plant increases. According health risk assessment, main route entering body through mouth breathing. Among exposure routes, oral most harmful, so we need pay special attention farmland pollution.

Groundwater contamination by nitrate and heavy metals is a growing global concern due to its detrimental effects on human health through ingestion dermal exposure. This study aimed assess the concentrations of (Pb, Cu, Cd, Fe) in groundwater evaluate associated risks among different age groups (females, males, children) Nnewi Awka regions southeast Nigeria. Standard methods were followed. Ten samples collected from each locality, their physicochemical parameters analyzed. The evaluation metal levels was conducted using cancer hazard index as indicators public impact. results showed that while within acceptable limits, exceeded permissible all samples. Carcinogenic risk (CR) analysis revealed approximately 40% 80% permitted range ≤1 × 10 −6–1 −4. In region, order toxicity Cd > Pb Cu Fe, Awka, it resulting severe non-carcinogenic hazards for users. identified most significant contaminants impacting water quality both regions. Children exhibited greater vulnerability compared adults areas. These findings contribute our understanding localized contamination, highlight children, emphasize importance regular monitoring management practices.

The paper reviews the widely used heavy metal pollution indices (HPIs) in water, soil, and sediments presents their numerical equation application various fields. HPIs are an essential efficient tool to measure contamination environmental system. present study includes twenty from for comparative with ranges. In addition, regional distribution of publications has been reviewed, it observed that 68% were published Asia, followed by other continents. merits demerits each index have presented, a comprehensive method selecting appropriate is evaluated order better interpret level soils water systems. Among quality HPI, HEI HI due precise scale, easy use, less limitations provide results. single indices, EF, Igeo, CF can be simple manner soil assessment, whereas combined PLI INemerow found useful as apply scale. integrated Cd IAvg apply, there no limitation metals. Selection geochemical background (GB) must established, nature fluctuation GB may give false result. ecological risk (ERI) unique represent sediment A approach guidelines using considering different sectors developed nation. widespread HPI makes more accessible, well-defined result presented.

This study reports the data on contamination caused by heavy metals in groundwater of Campania Plain (CP) Southern Italy. A total 1093 samples were obtained from following aquifers: coastal plains (GAR, VCP, VES, SAR, and SEL), volcanic districts (PHLE VES), carbonate massifs (MAS LAT). In this study, investigation depth ranged 5 m (GAR) to 200 (PHLE). The sequence metal content was B > Fe Al Mn Zn Ba Ni As Cu V Se Pb Cd. pollution index (HPI) evaluation (HEI) demonstrated that areas which sampled are not risk zones. Moreover, health assessment shows hazard (HI) values for found be significantly low samples. non-carcinogenic adult group, low, whereas children infants, >1 arsenic alone. Carcinogenic (CR) lower adults, children, infants. Jenks optimization method used evaluate distribution CP, principal component analysis technique (PCA) employed determine source metals, it mixed sources (natural anthropogenic) may responsible presence.

Drinking water requires excellent physico-chemical quality. It must therefore not contain any substance which is harmful, or may harm the health of consumer. The drinking supply Bangeli canton (Togo) provided by ground and surface have been polluted several industrial discharges as a result Togo’s intensive industrialization in last few decades. In order to contribute control this locality, our study focused on state metal pollution waters canton. To assess spatiotemporal evolution metallic contamination waters, groundwater samples were taken during dry rainy seasons three years. This comparative will allow for more in-depth assessment area. These analysed ICP-MS heavy metals such Fe, Pb, Cr, Zn, Cu, Co, As, Mn, Sb, Ni, Cd. mean values obtained these from are, respectively, 1144.87; 2.53; 3.42; 3.63; 6.49; 0.69; 143.76; 160.03; 5.67; 0.036 µg/L. Except all other below WHO guidelines. index (HPI) applied gave between 31.49 307.51, with 88.66% limit value (100). Health risk factors, including average daily doses, hazard quotient, carcinogenic risks, indices, computed children adults. Finally, HPI Fe Sb both child adult cases showed greater than safe limits, causes harmful hazards potential non-carcinogenic risks humans. However, Cd, As less (10−4), indicating that there no cancer. interpretation PCA results made it possible understand mining has contributed some resources Bangeli, cluster analysis (CA) data sampling points can be grouped into four groups, primarily formed extravagant concentrations Sr.

The Earth Critical Zone (ECZ) represents a complex interplay of chemical, biological, physical, and geological processes at the planet's surface, essential for maintaining ecological balance vital human existence. impact activities on ECZ is currently underexplored, posing challenges sustainable future development. Here we delve into effects industrialization, urbanization, technological progress resource scarcity, environmental degradation, loss biodiversity, which lead to profound shifts in ECZ's dynamics. Despite substantial influence terrestrial marine ecosystems, opportunities positive change through innovation, policy formulation, enhanced global governance are identified. Drawing examples from developed developing nations, discuss disparities management potential achieving harmonious between economic growth, social equity, preservation within framework Sustainable Development Goals. paper advocates integrated approaches address climate change, biodiversity loss, ecosystem calling strengthened international cooperation adoption green development strategies. We conclude that coexistence humans necessitates collective efforts across all levels society, leveraging advancements interventions foster resilient ecosystem.
