BackgroundAt the turn of 2021-2022, monthly birth rates declined in many higher-income countries. We explore how rollout COVID-19 vaccination was associated with this decline.MethodsUsing an interrupted time series design, we evaluate impact onset pandemic and start on seasonally-adjusted total fertility 22 high-income study associations between by additionally controlling for youth unemployment, stringency index, coverage.ResultsThe had immediate effect most countries, although size direction level changes considerably varied across The less all-embracing. A negative association vaccine nine months later found ten out For several decline preceded increase that took place after pandemic. Only four countries post-vaccination declines resulted being a lower than what pre-pandemic trend predicted. Additional control variables changed only little.ConclusionsThe campaign contributed to variation short-term trends. Several experienced following campaign, however, often returned closer trend. Fertility appears have responded short run vaccination, but few cases such long-term trajectory is below

Abstract When the COVID‐19 pandemic began in early 2020, speculation was rife both public and academic spheres over its possible effects on birth rates partnership behavior. Now, four years later, we still know surprisingly little about effect of fertility family dynamics. In this paper, outline three main takeaways from scientific literature produced topic past years. We argue that (1) do not have enough data to answer basic questions dynamics, (2) suggest an unexpectedly incoherent heterogeneous response, (3) estimated are suspect since shifting theoretically unexpected prepandemic behavior made identifying a strict causal problematic.

Results Overall, 564 completed survey, whom 115 (20.4%) stated preferences. Meanwhile, 234 (41.5%) previous history infection; regarding post-COVID-19 infection symptoms, 53 (22.6%) decreased libido 40 (17%) trouble in conceiving a baby. Participants were ≤30 years less likely be by decision compared >30 age. Following reports of the first human SARS-CoV2 infection in December 2019 from Wuhan Province, China, there was such rapid spread that by March 2021, World Health Organization (WHO) had declared a pandemic. Over 6.5 million people have died this worldwide, although is most likely an underestimate. Until vaccines became available, mortality and severe morbidity were costly terms life lost as well cost supporting severely acutely ill. Vaccination changed landscape, following worldwide adoption, has gradually been returning to normal. The speed production unprecedented undoubtedly ushered new era science fighting infections. developed on already known platforms for vaccine delivery: inactivated virus, virus vector, virus-like particles (VLP) subunit, DNA mRNA. mRNA platform used time deliver humans. An understanding these pros cons each are important clinicians who often challenged recipients advantages risks vaccines. These so far reassuringly shown be safe reproduction (with no effect gametes) pregnancy (not associated with congenital malformations). However, safety remains paramount continuing vigilance critical, especially against rare fatal complications vaccine-induced thrombocytopenia myocarditis. Finally, waning immunity months after vaccination means repeated immunisation ongoing, but just how many revaccinations should recommended uncertain. Research into other alternate delivery methods continue around long time.
