This review covers the latest publications in food allergy over last couple of years.Food is a major public health concern, affecting about 8% children and 10% adults developed countries. The prevalence varies around world, with environmental factors mainly driving increase, possibly together genetical susceptibility to changes.A precise diagnosis extremely important -both new tests (e.g.basophil activation test) improved optimization information provided by existing (e.g.skin prick test specific IgE) can contribute improving accuracy patients' comfort diagnosis.Understanding underlying immune mechanisms fundamental designing allergen-specific treatments that be safe effective long-term.New discoveries have emerged at various levels response allergens, including T cell B responses.Novel therapeutic approaches are being trialed stages development will hopefully allow for more active intervention treat allergy.Prevention key reduce increase prevalence.Early introduction allergenic foods seems most intervention, but others studied, lead modification epidemiological trajectory time.

BackgroundFood allergies are serious and potentially life-threatening, often place a large burden on patients their caregivers, including impacts quality of life.ObjectiveTo assess the real-world patient food allergies, using self-reported data available from Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) Patient Registry (NCT04653324).MethodsThe FARE is voluntary captures experiences adults pediatric in United States, through series surveys assessing health with allergies. Self-reported were descriptively analyzed.ResultsThe study cohort included 5587 allergies; 82% had multiple 62% aged <18 years. About half first diagnosed by an allergist/immunologist (53%), most commonly skin prick test (71%) or serum immunoglobulin E (62%). This analysis found that (most peanut [66%], tree nuts [61%], egg [43%], milk [37%]) impart clinical patients, many whom experience food-related allergic reactions comorbidities. Many experienced >1 reaction per year (42%), 46% experiencing food-induced anaphylaxis. Half all occurred at home. Accidental exposures to allergens 77% patients. The common comorbidities reported atopic dermatitis (48%), asthma (46%), rhinitis (39%). be greater different for versus patients.ConclusionThis disease information contributing Registry, thus providing unique insight into lives States These insights may assist clinicians other public stakeholders management
