Individuals with eating disorders are known to have higher rates of insecure attachment compared community controls, but the factors underlying this finding poorly understood. We conducted first meta-analysis comparing in disorder samples controls that included quality assessment, publication bias and moderation analysis.We pre-registered our (CRD42019146799) followed PRISMA guidelines. searched PsychINFO, Embase, Medline, CINAHL, Scopus for publications. Attachment scores were extracted, Cohen's d calculated each study using a random effects model.In total, 35 studies six summarized narrative review. Eating showed large effect size, across measurement methods different dimensions. Blinding assessors moderated sizes interview studies, no other moderators significant.Risk is elevated individuals disorders, albeit heterogeneity high largely unexplained. Clinicians may need take into account their work, particularly given association between insecurity challenges therapeutic alliance. Abstract Background Anorexia nervosa (AN) is associated with impairments in socio-emotional functioning, including difficulties interpersonal relationships as well alexithymia (difficulties identifying and describing one’s emotions). Although the onset of disorder mostly adolescence, a developmental period which to parents peers undergo major changes, only few studies have investigated quality adolescent AN patients. Furthermore, mechanisms linking poor relationship eating psychopathology are not yet clarified, albeit some research suggests that might play pivotal role. Attachment and mentalization as predictors of outcome in family therapy for adolescent anorexia nervosa (Thesis) DOI Open Access

Family therapy for adolescent anorexia nervosa (FT-AN) is the first line treatment disorder, but little known about who works for, or how it works. This thesis investigates potential value of constructs attachment and mentalization as predictors outcome in family AN. The presents a systematic review their association with child eating pathology which 22 relevant studies were found. In keeping evidence base adults disorders, both found to be correlates childhood adolescence. However, these process disorders scarce. second review, psychometric properties measures middle adolescence investigated across 53 studies. overall conclusion study that there lack adequate this age group.In main study, sample adolescents parents (n = 192) receiving FT-AN three specialist outpatient disorder services.
