Individuals
with
eating
disorders
are
known
to
have
higher
rates
of
insecure
attachment
compared
community
controls,
but
the
factors
underlying
this
finding
poorly
understood.
We
conducted
first
meta-analysis
comparing
in
disorder
samples
controls
that
included
quality
assessment,
publication
bias
and
moderation
analysis.We
pre-registered
our
(CRD42019146799)
followed
PRISMA
guidelines.

Scopus

Attachment
scores
were
extracted,
Cohen's
d
calculated
each
study
using
a
random
effects

studies

narrative
review.
Eating
showed
large
effect
size,

measurement
methods
different
dimensions.
Blinding
assessors
moderated
sizes
interview
studies,
no
other
moderators
significant.Risk
is
elevated
individuals
disorders,
albeit
heterogeneity

largely
unexplained.
Clinicians
may
need
take

account
their
work,

given
association

Abstract
Background
Anorexia
nervosa
(AN)
is
associated
with
impairments
in
socio-emotional
functioning,
including
difficulties
interpersonal
relationships
as
well
alexithymia
(difficulties
identifying
and
describing
one’s
emotions).
Although
the
onset
of
disorder
mostly
adolescence,
a
developmental
period
which

have
